Getting started

Arrive at the start point of the Mreznica River, where secure parking for personal cars is available. After check-in, your expert English-speaking guide gives you a short briefing and helps you get set up with all the necessary equipment. Once you are ready, you carry your kayak to the riverbank and launch into the clear water to begin your journey into Mreznica Canyon.

You explore the Mreznica Canyon by kayak, following your guide along a section known for its clear water and travertine formations. The route is suitable for beginners and more adventurous participants, and it is especially appealing on hot days near the Plitvice area.

Features

• Six travertine waterfalls shape this part of the Mreznica River, and you paddle close to them to see how the water flows over the natural limestone barriers into crystal-clear pools. Along the way, there are chances for swimming in the river, which is allowed here even though it is forbidden in nearby Plitvice Lakes National Park.
• Cliff jumping spots are included on the route, and your guide points out safe places where you can jump into the deeper sections of the canyon if you choose. Children as young as 6 years old can participate in the activity, so families can share the experience together on the same stretch of river.
• Kayaking in Mreznica Canyon takes place in two-person sit-on-top kayaks, and all necessary equipment is included, such as a life jacket, helmet, paddle, long neoprene suit, and rain jacket in case of cold weather. Waterproof containers are available for your personal items, although Raftrek Adventure Travel is not responsible for any loss or damage.
• An expert English-speaking guide leads the group on the water, and your participation is covered by insurance during the activity. At the end point, a return transfer brings you back to your personal car at the secure parking area, so you do not need to arrange separate transport between the start and finish points.

After returning to your car, you can change out of your gear, collect your belongings from the waterproof containers, and decide whether to continue exploring the Plitvice area on your own or head back, keeping in mind that tips or gratuities, bus fare, and any food and drinks are not included in the experience.
