O Museu Zayeda, em Abu Dhabi, é, sem exagero, uma das experiências culturais mais marcantes dos últimos anos. O próprio edifício, com seu contorno geral, remete à asa de um falcão em voo — a arquitetura aqui funciona como parte da narrativa, e não apenas como uma estrutura exterior. A exposição é estruturada em torno da figura do xeque Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan — fundador dos Emirados Árabes Unidos —, o que confere ao museu um tom emocional totalmente diferente em comparação com os museus históricos tradicionais. Seis galerias permanentes conduzem o visitante por 300 mil anos de história da região — desde os utensílios de pedra do Paleolítico até a formação do Estado moderno. Uma atração à parte é a réplica de um barco de bronze com 18 metros de comprimento, recriado com base em técnicas tradicionais, além da coleção de objetos pessoais e materiais de arquivo, que tornam a história tangível, e não abstrata. Em frente ao museu, encontra-se o Al Masar Garden — aqui, a paisagem é dividida em zonas desérticas, de oásis e urbanas. Um passeio pelo jardim é uma ocasião rara em que a experiência museológica começa já ao ar livre, e não com a entrada na sala de exposições.
