  • This is a WALKING TOUR.

As the leading outdoor activities provider in Nara City, we always over-deliver and ensure our guests are safe and enjoy our experiences to the fullest. We take you where you want to go and see, but we also include hidden gems you didn't know about to make a difference in your trip.

Begin your journey in the heart of Nara, just steps from Kintetsu Nara Station, where your guide welcomes you for a thoughtfully paced walking exploration blending heritage, craftsmanship, and local encounters.

From the station, you’ll enter the expansive grounds of Nara Park, where nature and history intertwine. Your first landmark is the imposing Nandaimon Gate, guarded by towering wooden statues that have watched over visitors for centuries. As you continue, you’ll encounter one of Nara’s most iconic experiences—interacting with the freely roaming sacred deer. With special deer crackers in hand, you’ll learn the charming ritual of bowing to them, often rewarded by a polite bow in return before feeding time begins.

The path leads you onward to the monumental Todai-ji Temple, home to the Great Buddha. Inside its wooden hall—one of the largest in the world—you’ll discover the spiritual and political significance this temple has held for over a millennium.

Leaving the temple grounds, the tour shifts toward living craftsmanship with a visit to Kikuichi Monjushiro Kanenaga. Established over 750 years ago, this historic knife-making company offers a rare glimpse into traditional Japanese blade artistry. You’ll learn about the forging techniques, materials, and philosophy behind tools that are still used by professional chefs across Japan.

A well-deserved lunch follows at a carefully selected local restaurant, where seasonal ingredients and regional flavors highlight Nara’s understated culinary identity.

In the afternoon, you’ll walk through forested pathways toward the atmospheric Kasuga Taisha, famous for its thousands of stone and bronze lanterns. The serene setting, nestled at the foot of Mount Kasuga, offers a striking contrast to the grandeur of Todai-ji.

From here, the experience transitions into the quiet charm of Naramachi. Far from the crowds, this preserved neighborhood reveals narrow lanes, traditional townhouses, and a slower rhythm of life. Within this district, you’ll visit Gango-ji Temple, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples. Here, your guide will share the eerie yet fascinating legend of the demon Gagoze—a story deeply rooted in local folklore and temple history.

The journey concludes in the intimate setting of a traditional tea house in Naramachi. Under the guidance of a certified tea master, you’ll be introduced to the refined art of the Japanese tea ceremony. After observing the precise, meditative preparation of matcha, you’ll have the opportunity to practice using the bamboo whisk yourself. The experience culminates in enjoying a bowl of freshly prepared matcha paired with a delicate, homemade wagashi—a perfect balance of flavor, aesthetics, and cultural meaning.

As the tour gently comes to an end, your guide will accompany you back to Kintetsu Nara Station, leaving you with a deeper connection to Nara’s history, its people, and its enduring traditions.
