We visited this museum when we were unable to get tickets for the art museum. We were very pleasantly surprised! We learned quite a bit about Picasso's early life and family and enjoyed seeing his childhood drawings. There was more art in the museum than we expected. The museum is located in his family's home and is rather small but there is a larger exhibition space a block away. We saw a wonderful exhibition there on his many pieces of art themed around Francoise Gilot. Our only suggestion would be for a few more benches in the exhibition hall.

Online tickets were easy to use and staff was very professional. Picasso's early life was interesting and his first home was nice to see. Also information of his later life.

    • Visit the library, now a research center, and then make your way to Picasso's reconstructed study, where many of his groundbreaking ideas came to life.

    • After exploring the temporary exhibitions, you can also tour the nearby Picasso Museum to dive deeper into the artist’s life and work.

  • Immerse yourself in Picasso's early life

Set off on an exploration of Picasso's Birthplace Museum, a historical building where the artist lived until 1884. As you explore, the nine themed rooms reveal the profound impact Malaga had on Picasso's identity and artistic development. The first room showcases works by influential artists and photographs from Picasso's childhood, immersing you in the environment that shaped his genius.

Delve into artistic themes and techniques

The museum's rooms delve into the themes that resonate throughout Picasso's work. You will also come across intimate family photographs and personal objects that give insight into his formative years. The museum offers a glimpse into his fascination with models and bullfighting, with original sketches and engravings that highlight his artistic evolution. You'll also discover how his love for the Mediterranean and its imagery influenced his work, particularly in the context of his childhood experiences.

    Engage with Picasso's legacy

Conclude your visit by exploring the museum's library-turned-research center, where you can browse preserved artworks and literature from the 19th century. Don't forget to explore the temporary exhibitions that feature specially curated collections.
