Tour the Conciergerie's prison cells

Proceed to the Conciergerie, a medieval royal palace that was abandoned by the Kings of France by the late 14th century, as they favored residing in the Louvre and Vincennes. The Conciergerie then transitioned into a prison and revolutionary tribunal. Throughout the French Revolution, it played a pivotal role as one of the primary places of detention, earning the grim moniker "the antechamber to the guillotine." Notably, it housed one of its most famous inmates, former Queen Marie Antoinette.

Admire the Hall of the Guards, a vast ceremonial room, and then proceed to the cell where Queen Marie Antoinette was imprisoned during the French Revolution. Pay homage to the thousands of individuals who were imprisoned and executed during the Reign of Terror.
