We were picked up by Ossman at the exact time and place he specified, and he sent us a photo of the vehicle with the license plate. The day before, we received confirmation of the time and the meeting point. So, very good. The vehicle was very comfortable. Ossman drove very well despite the mountain road leading to Setti Fatma, as well as the traffic on Moroccan roads. Ossman was very friendly and answered our questions. It was very pleasant. We didn't do the short hike to the Ourika springs (because we are too old 😢). But attached below are photos of the river where you can eat with your feet in the water 👍 it's great and traditional. Plus, given the 40°C heat in Marrakech in mid-September, a little coolness did us good. To finish, 5/5 for everything. I recommend Headout and Marrakech tours for their service. And 6/5 for Ossman, who was very attentive and very friendly.

The driver and the guide were extraordinary and incredibly kind. However, some stops on the tour are real tourist traps (the photo stop and the Berber house). On the other hand, the excursion to the waterfalls was pleasant, as was the dinner by the river.

We appreciated driver Kamal’s kindness and punctuality. The hike to see the waterfall was really nice. You’ll want to wear sneakers, preferably, because the way back down is rocky. We enjoyed the high-quality meal by the river. The lemon chicken tagine was delicious. You only need to pay for the drinks. The visit to the argan cooperative was also enjoyable, featuring a tasting of Moroccan mint green tea. We received explanations about the different oils and their benefits. We recommend this excursion—it offers great value for the price.

The day was perfect, the pickup was very smooth, and the stops along the way were interesting The guide who took us to the waterfalls was super friendly, and at the end he showed us photos of the village covered in snow this winter, as well as a few of the ski resort in the Atlas Mountains. It seemed almost unreal compared to today’s fantastic weather.

A magical day with our guide Oussman, who told us about Berber history. He was very attentive and accommodating, ensuring we had a wonderful time at our own pace—a truly personalized experience. Incredible places to discover, lovely artisans, a trail accessible to everyone (wear sneakers), the meal was excellent—a must-see that will leave you with wonderful memories.

Getting started

Your driver picks you up from your hotel or riad in Marrakesh between 8:30-9:00am in an air-conditioned minivan. If your accommodation is in the old medina and not accessible by car, you'll meet at a nearby pickup point (confirmed by email the day before). Have your booking confirmation ready. Pickup details will be sent via email the day before your trip (usually by 5pm), or shortly after booking for last-minute reservations.

What to expect

A full day exploring the High Atlas foothills. You'll drive through mountain scenery, stop at Tnine Ourika village, visit a Berber home, see argan oil being handmade, and hike with a local mountain guide to Setti Fatma waterfalls. The tour includes regular photo stops at panoramic viewpoints overlooking the valley and mountains.

Women's argan oil cooperative: Watch Berber women crack argan nuts between stones and press the kernels to extract oil. Learn why this "liquid gold" only grows in Morocco and how the cooperative supports local women's livelihoods.

Berber home visit: Step inside a traditional adobe house built into the mountainside to see thick walls, handwoven carpets, and low seating areas. Meet a local family and learn how daily life revolves around farming, animal herding, and seasonal rhythms.

Ourika Valley arrival: Reach the heart of Ourika Valley, where lush greenery contrasts with the rocky Atlas peaks. The valley is fed by snowmelt from the High Atlas, creating a green oasis just 60km from Marrakesh.

Waterfall hike: Walk from Setti Fatma village (elevation 1,500m) up to the first of seven waterfalls at 1,700m. The rocky trail climbs 200 meters in elevation alongside the river, crossing wooden bridges. Your local guide leads the 1-hour hike and points out the remaining 6 waterfalls visible from viewpoints along the path.

Riverside setting: Relax by the Ourika River, where cafés and restaurants line the banks. If you've upgraded to lunch, enjoy a 3-course meal with mountain views before returning to Marrakesh.

You'll return to Marrakesh with drop-off at your hotel or a different location in the city if requested.
