The Uffizi Gallery completely exceeded my expectations. Seeing The Birth of Venus in person was an unforgettable moment, it truly deserves all the hype. The museum is filled with masterpieces, but what surprised me the most were the breathtaking painted ceilings. In some rooms, I honestly found myself looking up even more than at the artworks because the architecture and decoration are absolutely mesmerizing. I also loved learning about the Medici family and seeing how their patronage shaped the Renaissance. Their influence can be felt throughout the entire gallery, making the visit feel like a journey through Florence’s history. One of the most striking works was Caravaggio’s Medusa. Seeing it in person is so much more powerful than in photos; the expression, the dramatic realism, and the illusion of the severed head are unforgettable. The rooms dedicated to Michelangelo were simply perfect. His works have an incredible presence that is impossible to describe until you see them yourself. I was also fascinated by Hercules and Antaeus and Hercules Fighting the Hydra, which beautifully capture strength, movement, and mythology. If you visit Florence, don’t rush through the Uffizi. Take your time, look up at the ceilings, admire the masterpieces, and immerse yourself in the world the Medici helped create. It’s one of the most incredible museums I’ve ever visited.

It was truly helpful that we were able to enter the Galleries quicker than if we went the oldstyle way by waiting in the cue. We needed to think only about the art inside, and not about the logistics of the visits, because it was all handled by headout. The Uffizi gallery is amazing and so peculiar, with an amazing setting of early to middle renaissance pieces merged with the story that gives the reasoning on how the renaissance came to be. We would recommend leaving 4-5 hours to explore the gallery, maybe even then you will feel as if you need more. Academia Gallery focuses on Michelangelo's works and pre and early renaissance, neatly merged with the sculpting school pieces that reflect the artists' fight for perfection. The place where we picked up tickets was a 30 second walk away from the Gallery, and we did not wait a single second for entry.

Visited Uffizi Gallery on 19 July 2026 @ 11:45am. I bought tickets online previous evening and it was an easy process; received tickets by email within one hour. Although the timed entry was 11:45am, I reached Uffizi Gallery half hour earlier, waited in line about 10 minutes and was allowed to enter the premises earlier. Security process was quick and easy. We enjoyed the visit to the gallery, had lunch in the cafeteria, took some photos from the terrace and walked out via Vasari corridor. All in all an unforgettable experience!

Reduced priced tickets were an easy purchase online the day before we went with a convenient pickup just next to the Academia close to our scheduled entry time. The best way to avoid the time standing in the queues of people especially in the heat of the day. It was very hot and we did not want to wait in line to visit the Galleria. Purchasing the tickets online was simple and quick. Thankfully we showed up at our appointed time and we were let right in to see all the amazing art at The Galleria Academia. It was definitely money well spent. We had more time to enjoy viewing all the amazing treasures inside.

The gallery has a very good selection of artwork. I really enjoyed seeing works of art that I only saw in history books as a student. The staff are very welcoming and speak English, so it really helps. Even though there's a long line to get in, it goes by very fast because staff is very efficient and getting people in. Overall, I highly recommend coming to this gallery if you are in Florence. It is definitely going to be the highlight of your trip seeing all the amazing artwork there. I did give it four instead of five stars because it was hot inside the museum. Even though they had air conditioning on, it wasn't enough and it was pretty hot while walking around the gallery. We like imitating the paintings when we go to the galleries as you could see in the photos below!

We were able to get tickets to see the David when all the tickets on the gallery's page were sold out. The price was fair and were easily able to find our guide to get the tickets! Otherwise we would have missed our chance while we were in Florence.
