From the moment the performance began, the atmosphere was captivating. The theatre was filled with a wonderful sense of anticipation, and the production immediately transported the audience into the refined yet lively world of Edwardian London. The combination of lighting, scenery, music, and movement created a beautifully immersive experience. The vocal performances were one of the true highlights of the evening. The voices were clear, expressive, and full of character, with an impressive balance between technical precision and emotional warmth. The dialogue flowed naturally into the musical numbers, and the orchestra supported the singers beautifully without ever overpowering them. Familiar melodies felt fresh and vibrant, while the quieter moments were handled with great sensitivity. The costumes were simply stunning. Every detail — from the elegant gowns and elaborate hats to the perfectly tailored suits — contributed to the beauty and authenticity of the production. The famous Ascot scenes were particularly striking, with their sophisticated monochrome styling creating an unforgettable visual impression. The costumes did not merely decorate the stage; they helped define the characters, social classes, and changing identity of Eliza throughout the story. The set design was equally impressive. The transitions between Covent Garden, Professor Higgins’ home, Ascot, and the grand ballroom were smooth and imaginative. The lighting enhanced each location beautifully, creating warmth, intimacy, elegance, or dramatic tension whenever required. There was a remarkable attention to small visual details, making every scene feel carefully composed. The performers also brought wonderful energy to the stage. The ensemble scenes were lively and full of movement, yet never felt chaotic. The choreography was polished and elegant, while the comic timing throughout the production added warmth and charm. At the same time, the emotional development of the central characters gave the performance depth beyond its spectacular appearance. What made the evening particularly memorable was the balance between grandeur and intimacy. There were moments of dazzling theatrical beauty, but also quieter scenes in which facial expressions, pauses, tone of voice, and subtle gestures became just as important as the music and scenery. Overall, this production of My Fair Lady was a feast for both the eyes and the ears. Beautiful voices, magnificent costumes, elegant staging, atmospheric lighting, excellent orchestration, and outstanding attention to detail came together to create a truly memorable theatrical experience. A sophisticated, joyful, and visually exquisite production that fully deserves five stars. ★★★★★

From the costumes in the foyer to the final curtain. a delightfully entertaining afternoon walking down memory lane. The set/lighting /costumes and choreography were superb - slick changes with the exception of the late light drop at the final curtain! The cast were professional and delivered - what surprised me was to discover that 'Higgins' is not musical. In 2 numbers he lost his timing, having a conductor proved essential for him and the show on these occasions and perhaps not even noticed by most audience goers. Clearly he has learned his songs without the gift of musicality, well done him. He certainly delivered a Higgins that was amusingly acceptable, even in our current climate. A credit to both his acting skills and the Directors. Thoroughly enjoyable thank you.

My Fair Lady is a lovely musical composed by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederic and arranged for film music. I was very impressed about that theatre piece played by outstanding actors. The actress who played mrs Doolittle has got an excellent voice to sing not only musicals but also operetttes or opera pieces however you call it. Actors were good singers as well. Very good acoustic in Joan Sunderland Theatre of Sydney Opera House. Big value to attend to this musical. Strongly recommended.

The performance was mind blowing...actually seeing this performed on stage instead of a movie screen. Cast was superb, seeing such performers in real life gave real authenticity to the musical. The sets simply blew me away, particularly the transformation of the ball room. Many in the audience clapped as the set morphed into being. Orchestra was excellent

As this was a 60th birthday present to myself and completed a bucket list item to see a production at the Sydney Opera House, I am one very happy lady.

The absolute lavish staging of Sydney's My Fair Lady & the adherence to the original stage play made the performance I saw at SOH unforgettable. The orchestra was phenomenonal. The actors' performances were of top standard. One of the best ever stage experiences I've had the pleasure of witnessing.
