The museum for you and your teenager to take cool photos. Very successful. Afterwards, we took a nice walk through Amsterdam to the Albert Cuyp (the market was really disappointing) and did the stroopwafel workshop there. Very much geared towards tourists (English), but Vince had a great time and did a lot in Dutch for my daughter. Highly recommended for both!

I loved everything! All the employees were so helpful and sure made the experience better!! All the rooms were super fun with different themes to explore. Also, the macha and hot chocolate we got from the cafe were phenomenal, a bit sweet for our tast but nothing short from amazing. It's definitely a must see if one is visiting Amsterdam.

Hello A fantastic experience for our thirteen year old son and for us as adults. Everything was excellent, from the staff to the many activities. We would love to come back every time we are in Amsterdam. Thank you!
  • See Amsterdam through two playful perspectives with this combo. Test how your brain interprets space at Museum of Illusions Amsterdam, then step into colorful rooms at The Upside Down Amsterdam designed for creative photos.

    Getting started

Start your visit at either attraction. Show your mobile ticket at the entrance of Museum of Illusions Amsterdam to access the exhibits and installations. When visiting The Upside Down Amsterdam, present your ticket at the entrance to receive your printed welcome photo and begin exploring the themed rooms.

    What to expect

    Museum of Illusions Amsterdam

Walk through a museum built around visual puzzles and perception tricks. Interactive installations, mirrors, and perspective rooms challenge how your eyes interpret space while simple explanations reveal the science behind each illusion.

    Features

    • Interactive illusion exhibits: Try hands on installations that play with perspective, reflection, and scale. Each room encourages experimentation, letting visitors move around displays to see how illusions change from different angles.

    • Educational exhibit explanations: Short explanations beside each installation explain how the illusion works, turning puzzling visuals into easy to understand lessons about perspective, light, and the human brain.

    • Creative photo opportunities: Capture unusual photos inside perspective rooms and mirror installations where bodies stretch, shrink, or appear to float, creating images that look completely impossible.

    • Staff guidance during your visit: Museum staff are available across the galleries to help visitors understand exhibits, suggest photo angles, and guide you through the illusion rooms.

    The Upside Down Amsterdam

Enter a colorful attraction where everyday spaces are flipped on their heads. Each themed room turns normal interiors upside down, creating playful scenes designed for imaginative photos.

    Features

    • Upside down themed rooms: Move through vibrant interiors where furniture hangs overhead and floors become ceilings, transforming everyday spaces like living rooms and street scenes into playful photo sets.

    • Printed welcome photo: Receive a printed welcome picture when you enter, giving you a fun souvenir from the start of your visit.

    • Digital photo downloads: Many rooms are designed for photography, and your visit includes downloadable digital images so you can keep your favorite shots afterward.

    • Café and shop access: After exploring the rooms, stop by The Upside Down Café for a break or browse the shop for souvenirs inspired by the attraction’s colorful themes.
