If you are planning to go, I would strongly recommend choosing the earliest time slot available. Arriving early can help you avoid the heavy crowds and make your visit much more enjoyable. Another important detail is about the tickets. Even if you buy them online, you may still need to pick them up physically from the Mamertine Prison before entering the Colosseum. To save time and avoid walking back and forth multiple times, it is best to go directly to Mamertine Prison first, collect your tickets, and then head to the Colosseum. Overall, despite the crowds and some logistical challenges, it is definitely worth visiting.

Visited In February and booked this th day before our visit. Everything worked smoothly, no queues anywhere, it was great. There is no audio guide for either the forum or colosseum but we had an excellent t guide book. Hardest bit was finding the start location at Mamerine prison. Partly due to road works. It's hidden away so leave plenty of time. On arrival there is no sign to direct you to where to exchange your QR tickets for Paper ones. Apart from that, an excellent tour.

For us, these were last-minute tickets for the Colosseum; all other providers had sold out (two days before our planned visit). The pickup location and time were explained in detail (the booked time was for the Colosseum, and tickets had to be picked up at the Carcer Mamertinus at least one hour in advance). There was quite a wait when picking up the tickets, but the staff were super friendly.

We arrived at Mamartine, which was a bit tricky because Google Maps showed the address about 60–70 meters before the prison entrance, but then the friendly and understanding staff at the prison ticket office explained everything we needed to know, and the visit went smoothly. A wonderful experience that everyone should try at least once in their lifetime!

Amazing to see everything for real, had always wanted to see the coliseum and it didn't dissapoint it was a breath-taking experience, the prison, palatine hill also. I would highly recommend as it's all stunning and really makes you feel you can imagine what things back then were like. Friendly, helpful staff too.

A beautiful place. I recommend going in the morning. We went at 9:15 a.m. and it was perfect—there weren't too many people there yet. Booking tickets through Headout was really easy. No problems at all—I highly recommend it.

Getting to the prison is a real hassle! The phone number they gave me doesn't get any answers!! To get to the prison, there's construction and lots of roadblocks, and if you follow Google Maps, you have to enter via the Foro Romano, but when you get to the gate, you're stopped, and if you want to get in, you have to pay for a ticket! It’s really problematic when they tell you via email that you only have the ticket to enter the prison and that you have to go pick up the other tickets at the prison (which is hard to get to), and that if you don’t show up on time, the ticket is forfeited... Especially when you book the 9 a.m. slot and it opens at 8:30 a.m. and you have to be there 15 minutes early, but at the Colosseum... the organization needs to be reviewed, especially when you receive the instructions by email after you’ve confirmed! Otherwise, the tours were good.

The office to collect the tickets for the venues was extremely hard to find, I eventually found it by chance just in time for the timeslot. It appeared I had been circling it at least 4 times, due to Road works on the one side and the misdirections on Google maps on the other side. By the time I finished the Colosseum (spectacular!) I was to tired to queue up for security at the forum (the queue was enormous, even for pre-booked tickets. I ended up skipping both forum and Palatine Hill and would advise anyone with an afternoon timeslot not to go for the combined ticket, but do the Colosseum separately.
