Board the Shinkansen bullet train from any of the major stations in the city of your choice. You will be treated to a classic train bento and snacks as you speed through the picturesque countryside.
Visit Mt. Fuji World Heritage Cultural Center
Once you arrive in Shizuoka, your tour of Fujinomiya starts. Visit the brand-new Mt. Fuji Cultural Center. Learn about the history and cultural significance of the famous mountain from a local guide. Next is a green tea tasting experience, where you try Shizuoka tea, the high-quality green tea produced in the region.
Famous yakisoba and traditional Japanese lunch
The tour continues to a local soba shop, where you can taste yakisoba noodles made with mountain spring water. As you walk through the streets of Fujinomiya, visit six local shops and restaurants where you will sample regional specialties such as regional style oden. Then, stop at an 80-year-old Japanese restaurant that uses only locally sourced ingredients and indulge a traditional lunch.
Shop for souvenirs and visit the Fujisan shrine to bring home
Visit Fujisan Sengen Shrine, the primary shrine dedicated to Mt. Fuji which is the starting point for climbers. Head to a local confectionery master to try some of the region's famous wagashi sweets. The last stop is Fujitaro Honten, a local store that sells green tea, sake, and other local specialties.
