Discovering the crater of the mythical Vesuvius was a dream. Getting there was very easy thanks to the shuttle bus that drops you off at the bottom of the small path leading up to it. On the other hand, I found the service very expensive, given that there isn't even a small paper guide to the volcano!

The organization was perfect. The round-trip time between the bus parking lot and the cone of Vesuvius is correct. Only downside: the bus driver spends the whole trip on the phone, driving one-handed on very steep roads.

Transportation was prompt-the ride up and down the mountain was harrowing but that's due to the roads. The "4" is because there wasn't a guide and there wasn't enough time for a guide anyway. You had 25 minutes to get up the mountain, 20 minutes at the peak, and 25 minutes to get back down and you got back on the bus.

Unfortunately, there was a lot of fog and it was not possible to see much of the great cone, however, the experience was still good.

The reception of the hostesses for the reservation, which had not been transmitted correctly but which was effective. Timetable respected. My advice: Arrive early at Pompei scavi station. To meet at 13:00, take the 11:44 train to Naples.

The German-speaking guide lady in Pompeii was simply exceptional and she made the walk through Pompeii under a scorching sun an unforgettable experience.

The staff in the shop in Via Roma were so friendly and so helpful.
The bus out to Vesuvius was good. The instructions were clear and the journey back was on time.
All in all, it was a great trip and we really enjoyed it.

We enjoyed the convenience of the trip to Vesuvio. Our only complaint was that we were told we would have a guide which gave us the impression a guide was assigned to our group. Instead we arrived at the top to be told a guide would arrive shortly and was not assigned to our specific group. Then we waited for a random guide for over fifteen minutes. Being aware of the time to meet our bus, we decided to continue walking to the top and take in the views. So our only complaint is that a guide really isn't part of the ticket price but a guide that is already there for any tour group.
