I've been to the Cabaret du Moulin Rouge three times: in 1975, on my honeymoon with my wife, Nereida; in 2000, on a tour of Paris; and now, in 2025, to celebrate my 10th wedding anniversary with my second wife, Edith, who has been incredibly impressed by the show. The cast has been impressive, but the quality has never wavered; on the contrary, it has evolved professionally. This time, I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Stéphane Manier, the director, who invited me to attend another show. I invited him to visit us at our residence in Puerto Rico, so that he could discover the island where I was born and where I live.

The show was nothing less than epic. So much admiration for the performers: their stamina and professionalism. Particularly the two separate performances of man/woman and two men. Demonstration of core body power was enthralling. Of course, the legendary CanCan has to be seen only at the Moulin Rouge. We were luck and arrived early so got seared opposite each other on the balcony level. I think our review might have had a different edge if we were squished in side by side. The champagne seemed decent and the staff were attentive and polite, particularly one lady who held out her hand to help me down some steps. I didnt get her name but it was such a natural kindly gesture and I thank her for it.

We will always remember the Cabaret Moulin Rouge. We did spend a little time queuing to get to the tables, but then we were "compensated" for it: a waiter took us directly to our table in the gallery, in the middle - the railing directly in front of us so that we had a clear view of the show. The show was unique, from the music to the dancers and the costumes. The finale with the Can Can was the icing on the cake. We would come again at any time Wolfgang & Tanja from Zella-Mehlis/Germany

The sheer, glittering spectacle was absolutely unforgettable. I loved the energy—the choreography, especially the high-kicking French Can-Can, was breathtaking and infectious. But the costumes truly stole the show; the level of artistry, the rhinestones, and the elaborate feathers made it feel like pure, glamorous Parisian magic from start to finish. It was truly high-octane, visually stunning entertainment.

I understand that parts of Paris have become increasingly shaped by commercialism—many experiences and restaurants live on guaranteed tourism rather than genuine effort, and sometimes that shows. I came to the Moulin Rouge hoping it would rise above that: not just another tourist trapping machine, but a performance that still carried the soul of its storied past. The production was visually stunning—costumes, lighting, and staging were perfection, easily a 10/10. However, beyond the surface spectacle, the show felt hollow. The energy of the performers was low (tired maybe from doing the same show 3 nights in a row over multiple years?), the choreography uninspired, and the atmosphere more reminiscent of an average cruise ship performance than the dazzling artistry one might expect from such an iconic venue. The trapeze and balancing acts between dance numbers were far more engaging and heartfelt. For those attending purely for the novelty or to check a box on the Paris to-do list, it will certainly impress on scale and glamour. But for anyone seeking authentic performance, emotion, or innovation, it falls short of its legacy. At €230+, it’s an expensive nostalgia piece—beautifully staged, but missing the spark that once made Moulin Rouge magical. I hope new creative energy will one day restore that spirit.
