It was the only day of our holiday that it rained which made the whole experience way better! All the waterfalls come out and it was truly exceptional. Milford Sound is my new favourite place in the world and the smaller boat was great because there are way less people on it! Highly recommended and I will certainly be back.

An opportunity to see an amazing part of the world. The scenery is breathtaking and truly spectacular. There are a number of companies offer a cruise in Milford Sound but this is a smaller boat that enables you to get close to all the waterfalls. Be prepared for something spacial.

A smaller boat for cruising the sound, however this is the best part as you are able to walk freely around the different viewing areas throughout the vessel. Enough commentary to understand the fact of what is around you, without overdoing it. Recommend!

Botique small boat with limited number of passenger made it more exclusive, calm and relax experience. Due to the small size of boat we can go nearer to the waterfalls. Staff was very informative and friendly. Overall it is a great experience.

There are lots and lots of boats running every 10 minutes practically. They all do the same thing, same route as far I could tell. There are massive boats that hold 300+ people. This company have a small boat, we at times got really close to the cliffs for a close up of the seals or water fall. I don't think the bigger boats can do that. We were not over crowded and tea and coffee, hot chocolate was provided. We went on a dry sunny day and it was cold, but we were on the top level on the outside of the boat. The inside was warm. The best view on the boat is the front but you do get wet, so wear lots of layers and a raincoat and your set. The only thing I would have wanted more is rain, apparently if you go on a rainy day it's stunning.

The most breathtaking views ever! This is an amazing experience and it should not be missed. The cruise trip was such an unique experience and definitely one which though touristy, is NOT overrated. Cruise was on time, they served hot coffee, hot chocolate, tea on the cruise in a 2 hour ride. Captain's narration about Milford Sound was exceptional.

The incredible scenery! Only sharing the boat with about thirty other people meant there was plenty of space to move around freely.
  • Sail through Milford Sound’s dramatic fjords on a small-boat cruise with panoramic decks and live commentary.

    Getting started

Arrive at the designated pier and check in with your ticket before boarding your small vessel. Crew members will provide a quick safety briefing and introduce the route as you settle in on deck.

    What to expect

Known as Piopiotahi in Māori, Milford Sound is a glacier-carved fjord celebrated for its sheer cliffs, lush rainforests, and cascading waterfalls. This natural wonder is part of Fiordland National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Features
    • Panoramic viewing decks: Enjoy unobstructed views of towering cliffs, iconic Mitre Peak, and the surrounding temperate rainforest from spacious open decks.

    • Onboard commentary: Listen as your crew shares insights into the fjord’s geology, wildlife, and history, bringing the landscape to life.

    • Wildlife spotting: Keep an eye out for New Zealand fur seals, dolphins, and rare birdlife that frequent the waters and shoreline.

    Guided track walk upgrade

Meet your guide at the pier for check-in and a short introduction before embarking on your cruise. After your time on the water, follow your guide to the starting point of the Milford Track for a guided nature walk. The track weaves through ancient rainforest and alongside crystal-clear rivers, offering a closer look at Fiordland’s unique ecosystem.
