Fly over the Alps

Escape to a hidden paradise as you soar high in the sky on your flight from Queenstown to Milford Sound. The scenic flight tour lets you experience New Zealand like never before. Brace yourself for some of the most spectacular sights of natural landscapes that you will ever see - all from a bird’s eye view. Explore deep valleys, high peaks, glaciers, and massive waterfalls as you peer out your window. Your pilot will give you interesting facts about everything that you see throughout your flight.

First, you will fly towards Fiordland National Park, where you’ll find a vast expanse of peaks and valleys opening out into the sea. The landscape here is formed because of the rapid retreating of glaciers.

Next, you’ll be soaring above Milford Sound where you’ll spot towering peaks with cascading waterfalls between them. Follow the icy blue channel all the way into the Tasman sea. Discover a range of mountainous land from rocks covered in moss and ferns, to massive peaks rising straight from the depths of the ocean - the sights are truly magnificent. Finally, you’ll fly across the forests and mountain ranges of the Southern Alps, above the Milford range, and over the Sutherland Waterfalls to the gorgeous Lake Wakatipu.

Important Information

From check-in 30 minutes before departure, to landing back at Queenstown Airport, is approximately 2 hours. Please note, this does not include time for self-driving or using our complimentary transfers.

Bring along any essential medication, sunglasses, camera, warm clothing layers, comfortable footwear, and water bottle.

Even though the aircraft is heated, it is recommended to bring light warm clothing layers.

Your scenic flyover from Queenstown over Milford Sound and back to Queenstown is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes.

All seats on the aircraft are window seats. Passenger seat allocation however is at the Pilots’ discretion due to the weight and balance of the plane.

The cruising altitude is weather-dependent and ranges between 5,000-10,000 feet.

Restrictions

For operational and safety reasons, we request passenger weights during booking to ensure compliance with aircraft weight limits and balance requirements. Please notify if any passenger is 140kg (308lb) or over. Helicopter activities have a weight limit of 116kg (255lb) and require prior notification. Exceeding your declared weight by 15kg (33lb) at check-in may result in rescheduling, subject to availability.
