Colosseum, Palatine Hill & Roman Forum Access

Purchasing the tickets online was fine, although I felt a little harassed by the multiple emails with discount offers before I confirmed a purchase. Various discounts were applied (as I booked multiple tours), but I felt that this just made it feel like the original price was probably inflated to allow for the discounts. I downloaded the Headout app as it implied this would be better to access tickets, but I don't think it's been any more useful. The Colloseum ticket options were not clear to me - I purchased a 'full experience- arena' tour, which I expected to be a 'full exeprience' with access to the arena. It was only when in the Colloseum that we realised there are 'full experience- underground' and 'full experience - attic' ticket options as well, which I do not recall were available when I booked. If you want to see it all you will need all 3 options - arena, underground and attic. Meeting the tour operators for the tickets was fine. Once the ticket is handed to you, with a small bit of info about getting into the Colloseum, and accessing the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, you're left to your own devices. I personally do not think the layout of the Colloseum is very well signed - you can easily miss bits. It is very busy. The audio guide we had to download was fine but drained a lot of battery as it asks to use GPS, which isn't even very accurate. I think a personal tour guide would have been better. It was annoying to have to download the audio guide through yet another app. The Colloseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill were very interesting and I'm glad we've done them but I dont think Headout or the local tour provider added much extra to the experience - they were literally just parties to a transaction, with little personal interaction.

Mein Besuch im Vatikan und im Kolosseum war insgesamt in Ordnung, aber nicht ganz so beeindruckend, wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte. Beide Sehenswürdigkeiten sind natürlich historisch und kulturell sehr bedeutend, und es ist schon etwas Besonderes, sie einmal live zu sehen. Allerdings waren die Wartezeiten teilweise ziemlich lang, was die Erfahrung etwas anstrengend gemacht hat. Auch die Organisation wirkte stellenweise etwas unübersichtlich, sodass es manchmal kompliziert war, sich zurechtzufinden. Trotzdem gab es auch positive Momente – die Architektur und die Geschichte dahinter sind wirklich faszinierend. Insgesamt würde ich sagen, es war eine solide Erfahrung: nicht perfekt, aber auch nicht schlecht.

The most memorable and impressive place for me in the Colosseum was the upper level, overlooking the entire arena. Standing there, I was amazed by the scale of the Colosseum. From above, you can really understand how massive it is and how it once held tens of thousands of people. The view of the arena from that height makes everything feel more real and easier to imagine.

Basicamente com estes bilhetes fomos ao local levantar os bilhetes e o QR code do Audio Guia. O Guia mal nos explicou por onde entrar no Coliseu, deu nos um mapa, mas não é de fácil interpretação! Mas se não fosse por aqui não teríamos conseguido bilhetes, pois a bilheteria oficial estava esgotada todos os dias! Dado este facto, valeu a pena!

L'accès à été rapide et l'heure demandé. Visite libre, grandiose. Je n'aurais jamais pu imaginer l'immensité du site entre le colissé, le palatin et le forum. Nous sommes arrivés pour 12h45 et repartis vers 16h30 facile. Des photos magnifiques. Mon fils de 19 ans à vraiment apprècié cette découverte.
