The Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel tour with Lauralee was exceptional from start to finish. As an art historian, her depth of knowledge brought every gallery to life—she didn’t just explain the artwork, she told the stories behind it in a way that was engaging, insightful, and easy to follow. She expertly guided us through the vast Vatican Museums, highlighting the most important pieces while also sharing fascinating details you’d never pick up on your own. By the time we reached the Sistine Chapel, we had a real understanding of Michelangelo’s work and its significance, which made the experience even more powerful. One of the biggest advantages of this tour was the seamless entry into St Peter’s Basilica at the end. Skipping the notoriously long queues saved us a huge amount of time and made the whole experience feel relaxed and well-organised. Lauralee struck the perfect balance between informative and enjoyable, and her passion for art was clear throughout. If you’re visiting the Vatican, this tour is absolutely worth it—highly recommended.

I enjoyed thinking about and discussing a little about how Michelangelon was given a lot of freeodom in choosing how to manifest passages from Genesis and Revelation. His freedom of the artist does not totally limit the meaning and interpretation of indviduals who are inspired by "Mike's" work, from their own understanding of Scripture. Regarless of Michelangel's own attutude toward his subject, the images he used, or the "models" he used to portray the biblical narrative, those who also know the narrative will, hopefully with cause, draw even Christian meanings from the images and their arrangements themselves. In other words, Michelangel's intentions, are not necessarily the controlling factor in how the individual viewer sees, values, and interprets the meaning of the art and its arrangement for themselves.

Visite des lieux très intéressante avec un guide au top. Seul bémol : la visite a lieu à 9h45 et les billets sont à retirer à l'agence sur le côté de l'entrée au Vatican car lors de la réservation il ne nous ai pas remis les billets définitifs. . Il est noté sur le site de l'agence que celle-ci ouvrait à 10h00. Nous avons traversé Rome pour retirer les billets la veille de peur de ne pouvoir faire la visite mais en fait l'agence est ouverte avant et il faut se rendre 1/2h avant la visite pour retirer les billets définifs. Il serait plus judicieux de remettre les billets définitfs lors de la réservation pour qu'il n'y ai aucune ambiguité

Wij hadden het all in pakket en een vroege start (8:00). Plan niets anders op deze dag!! De basilica beklommen tot de nok met een fantastisch uitzicht. Meer dan 500 treden omhoog en erg smal maar uiteindelijk meer dan de moeite waard. Onze gids stroomde over van kennis en maakte de dag erg leuk en interactief. Het Vaticaan met al zijn bijzonder- en eigenaardigheden werden uitgelegd en gezien. De catacomben waar de pauzen begraven liggen, het Vaticaans museum en de Sixtijnse kapel werden deskundig, leerzaam en met de nodige humor uitgelegd. Zo een dag laat de nodige indrukken achter die de tijd nodig heeft om het te verwerken.

Wow! What a day. We started our tour at 8:00 with St Peter's Basilica. This was amazing with a long walk up to the top of the cupola. After a quick lunch and short break, we went at it again with the museum and Sistine Chapel. 6 hours of standing and walking. We are in shape ;my son just ran a marathon) but we got back and napped. The museum had so so much to see. Amazing to see in person all that was there. I liked having Nadya show us the favorites and go into detail with certain aspects. Had I been on my own, it would have been overwhelming.

Todo muy bien. Desde la recepción en el punto de encuentro hasta los ingresos. Todo fue más rápido de lo esperado. En todo momento nos sentimos muy cómodos y cuidados por María, nuestra guía. Durante todo el recorrido fue sumamente amable y empática, tanto con los niños( había dos en el tour) como con los mayores( como yo). Las descripciones han Sido muy simples de entender y muy detalladas. Seguramente lo recomendaremos. Gracias.

Good experience, guide was knowledgeable and kept good interactions with the small group of 9. However St Peter's basilica was not accessible and we were given a ticket for later on 5pm which was not working for us and there was no prior notice of this

Please wear comfortable shoes as this experience involves a lot of walking.

Accessibility

The Vatican Museums offer free tickets for visitors with mobility impairments (with certified invalidity exceeding 74%). In the case of visitors lacking in self-sufficiency, free entry is extended to their companions.

Additional information

Purchasing this tour implies an agreement to stick with the assigned guide, without whom you cannot access the Vatican Museums. Opting out or missing the tour means losing ticket rights, without refunds.

St. Peter’s Basilica may be closed on Wednesday mornings and afternoons as the Papal Audience takes place in St. Peter’s Square. If you’re considering visiting St. Peter's Basilica, please make plans for another day.

Please note: All guests must pass through airport-style security. During high season and peak hours, the wait time at the security check may be up to 30-45 minutes.

Your ticket has a designated entry time—please arrive at least 30 minutes in advance.

Sometimes guides are not allowed to give tours inside the St. Peter's Basilica. On such rare occasions, they will share a brief introduction outside and you'll be free to explore the basilica by yourself.

Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica are active places of worship, some areas may be subject to sudden closures without prior notice.

Expect a long wait at security, especially during peak times. Patience is key, it could take up to an hour!

Please be aware that during the Jubilee Year, certain areas of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel, may be inaccessible due to religious ceremonies or unforeseen circumstances. St. Peter's Basilica may also experience unannounced closures. The closure of any museum section does not entitle visitors to any refund.

St. Peter’s Basilica may be closed on Wednesday mornings and afternoons due to the Papal Audience in St. Peter’s Square. If you’d like to attend, book an exclusive invitation with guaranteed seating.

Since the Jubilee is underway, access to St. Peter's Basilica is now restricted at all entrances. To ensure entry, reservations must be completed at least 5 days in advance.

Please note the special closures of the Sistine Chapel in January 2026:

3 January (Saturday): Closed from 2pm, with last admission at 1pm.

9 January (Friday): Closed all day.

10 January (Saturday): Closed from 1pm, with last admission at 12pm.

The Vatican Museums will remain open as usual on these dates.

Note: Michelangelo’s Last Judgement will undergo maintenance until March 2026. While the Sistine Chapel remains open, views of the fresco may be partially obstructed by scaffolding.
