This tour was absolutely amazing and was so informative! Our tour guide Sabina was knowledgeable on all the history and even gave us a great place to stop and eat after the tour! The bus transfers were easy to navigate and was nice after walking in the hot sun! Overall, I would most definitely suggest this tour! The Capuchin crypt is a most see attraction!

La llegada ha sido fácil con los medios de transporte, al tener los tickets en forma previa, ha sido rápido el ingreso, no tuvimos que esperar y nos otorgaron rápidamente los equipos para iniciar la guía. El recorrido es fácil muy didáctico en especial se ve que han tenido en cuenta los niños dado que cuentan con de puntos de interés diferenciados para ellos. El ingreso a la cripta en sí es de fácil acceso, las decoraciones realizadas con los huesos humanos forman parte de el respeto que tenían por sus hermanos, dado que al retirar sus restos óseos para poder enterrar a otros capuchinos eh le dieron un destino también eh muy cuidado en todos los aspectos intentando incluso de ser parte del arte, y creo yo parte de una conmemoración, de un reconocimiento, de un respeto por lo que fue su vida permaneciendo dentro de la misma cripta. Excelente recorrido, recomendable para quienes no se impresionan, de fácil acceso y tránsito, además de entender un poco más de lo que eran, hacían los capuchinos

Our guide was excellent Paula was extensively knowledgeable regarding our tour stops, she would ask constantly if there where questions that needed to be answered, and the coach ride was clean and comfortable were still she explained the scenes around us on the way. I would recommend this tour and tour guide to anyone that is in Rome!!

This was my absolute favourite place when visiting Rome! The history, the mindblowing facts and the incredible artwork made from the friars of Rome truly blew my mind. I had goosebumps the whole time. Would 100% recommend!

Arrive at the Capuchin Crypt and Museum during operating hours and present your ticket at the entrance. After validation, collect or activate your audio guide and begin exploring at your own pace.

What to expect

Capuchin Museum and Crypt

Located beneath the Church of Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini, this museum and crypt preserve the history and burial traditions of the Capuchin friars through sacred art and bone-lined chapels.

Bone chapels: Walk through eerie underground chambers decorated with the skeletal remains of thousands of Capuchin friars arranged into arches, chandeliers, and symbolic patterns.

Museum collections: Discover religious relics, paintings, manuscripts, and artifacts tracing the history and spiritual practices of the Capuchin order.

Audio-guided visit: Learn the meaning behind the crypt’s unusual displays and hear stories about Rome’s religious history as you explore independently.

Upgrades: Upgrade to a guided tour of Rome’s ancient catacombs with skip-the-line entry and transfers between sites, or choose an extended itinerary featuring a stop at Bocca della Verità and Santa Maria in Cosmedin.

Accessibility

Wheelchair and stroller access: The museum and crypt are wheelchair and stroller-friendly. The guided tours however, aren't.

What’s not allowed

Pets: Pets are not allowed inside the Capuchin Museum and Crypt.

Food and drinks: Food and drinks are not allowed inside the venue.

Dress code: Since it is a religious site, shoulders and knees must be covered before entering.

Storage: There are storage facilities for large bags, luggage, and backpacks.

Photography: Photography for personal and non-commercial use is permitted.

Catacomb closures: The Domitilla catacombs are closed on Tuesdays, and the Callixtus catacombs are closed on Wednesdays.
