Seamless activation
ICOCA cards can also be used at vending machines and coin-operated lockers. If your card balance gets low, you can easily charge the card from automated ticket machines, charge machines, and fare adjustment machines inside ticket gates for repeated card use. Credit cards cannot be used to charge ICOCA cards. Visit the city anytime in the span of 10 years and avail the facilities of the card. The maximum stored amount in the card is JPY20,000, and the card can be loaded and used as many times as desired.

The JPY500 deposit will be refunded and a handling fee of JPY220 will be deducted from the total refundable amount from each ICOCA Card.

Refunds can be redeemed at JR-WEST Ticket Offices at JR-WEST stations. Refunds are not available at non-JR-WEST offices or bus offices.

ICOCA cards are valid for purchases on trains, vending machines, rent coin lockers, convenience stores, and restaurants.

The ICOCA IC Card cannot be used for rides or purchases at locations outside the coverage area.

Only cash (JPY) can be used to top up the ICOCA IC card. Credit/Debit cards cannot be used.
