The monastery is beautiful and worth a visit. Little bit disoriented at the first since there's no number inside the monastery to match the audio guide so traced back and it all makes sense. Very good interpretation of each site inside the monastery unfortunately large portion of the church is under construction currently. And outside of the monastery was under construction as well. Would like to come back when the construction is done to see more..

Buying the ticket with you was great, the option of the guided tour is a very good idea, we enjoyed it very much. But the organisation of the security staffs is something else. They mixed up the time slot, were angry at people because things were going west! I wished thar they could be more kind and smiling. Giving more indications about the waiting lines and be more welcoming.

The visit was as planned. It started on time but we had been an hour earlier and were on top of the waiting line. We would have prefered to carry on with the visit of the search without having to stand in line again which was not clear what we had to do.

Getting in looked daunting but it was actually quite quick once our time slot came. Such a breathtakingly beautiful Monastery such wonderful stone masonry workship it must have been a most serene sanctuary to come to devote one's life.

It's recommended to cover your shoulders and wear comfortable walking shoes.

What's not allowed

You need an Android (version 5.0+) or iOS smartphone for the audio tour at the monastery. It won't work on Windows Phones, older iPhones/iPads/iPods.

Strict dress code: Please note that off-shoulder tops, dresses, and knee-high shorts are not recommended.

Keep in mind food & beverages and large bags or backpacks are not allowed on this experience.

Visitors are not allowed to take photographs in some parts of the monastery.

There is medium accessibility for guests with reduced mobility.

The lower level has wheelchair access though some sections are cobblestoned.

Entry to the church is free for residents of Portugal on Sundays and public holidays.

With disability proof, you can avail up to 60% off on entry.

The Jerónimos Monastery remains closed on Monday, 1st January, Easter Sunday, 1st May, and 25th December.

The Monastery is closed between 9:30am and 1pm on October 24th and December 5th.

Please note that guests may have to wait in queue for a long time before entering the venue.
