Beautiful place to visit; the views were stunning and the castle remains are impressive. There is lots to see with peacocks also roaming freely around the castle grounds. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Visiting São Jorge Castle was one of the highlights of our trip to Lisbon. The views from the top are absolutely stunning—you can see the whole city, the river, and those beautiful red rooftops. It really feels like stepping back in time with all the old walls and history around you. One of the most unique and memorable parts was seeing peacocks just walking around freely inside the castle grounds. They were so calm and beautiful, adding a special charm to the place. It’s not something you expect, and it made the experience even more magical. The atmosphere is very relaxing, perfect for walking around, taking photos, and just enjoying the scenery. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Lisbon!

The castle was great and audio guide on phone was superb. I actually thought the audio guide in English was much better than other the English speaking tour guides we took. Some guides have a huge accent which make it difficult to understand certain words. Gave the history and background! Loved the upper level of the castle with fabulous views! Totally recommend the castle if you love historical edifices!!!

João gave us a lot of historical context behind the castle and the way the Moors designed it. It was great to walk through it and learn the ways it would have been defended during a potential attack. I would definitely recommend it to history and military lovers

We purchased tickets the day of to avoid long lines. Our online tickets were ready in approximately 45 minutes. It was perfect timing as we had time for a bite to eat. We bypassed the long line to purchase tickets at the gates and entered immediately to the castle.
