I had two tours, one with Kat and one with Joana (Im sorry if I spelt it wrong). The fist tour was the world's and the second was behind the scenes of Forest and I could had talked to kat all day! Thank you all for such an amazing experience. I only came to Lisbon from the United Kingdom for Oceanario de Lisboa before The Forest exhibition was closed and so happy (and sad) that I did! Xxx. Lovey place, well priced and an all day event. And Jose (Aquascaping legend) A massive thank you! What are you waiting for book up and go!

The circular layout of the Ocenarium around the main tank symbolizing "One Ocean" is a great idea. I've never seen anything like this anywhere else. I've never seen Sea Dragons anywhere else either. Instead of separating every part of the world, I felt that we are all connected by the same body of water thus sharing the same connection and the same responsibility to protect this precious liquid that give birth to life millions of years ago.

Vandaag naar het aquarium van Lissabon. Het is werkelijk een genot om daar rond te lopen en te genieten van alle mooie opgezette werelden.het allemooiste en wat echt indruk heeft gemaakt is de onderwater wereld met grote haaien en roggen en alle andere bijzondere vissen met hele bijzondere vis de zonne vis zie foto

Die Anlage des Ozeanario war schon sehr beeindruckend, von der Größe und Vielfahrt der Tiere die da zusammenleben. Friedlich. Die Anlage super gepflegt. Ja die Seilbahn auch schön, wir haben sie benutzt um näher an die Brücke zu kommen.

O que mais gostei no Oceanário de Lisboa foi a forma como o espaço nos faz sentir dentro do oceano, rodeados por diferentes espécies marinhas num ambiente calmo e fascinante. O aquário central chamou especialmente a minha atenção pela sua grandiosidade e pela diversidade de animais, como os tubarões, as raias e o peixe-lua. Também gostei muito da organização do percurso, que permite conhecer habitats de vários oceanos do mundo de uma forma educativa e envolvente. Foi uma experiência inesquecível para mim, foi uma experiência enriquecedora, tanto pela diversão como pela aprendizagem sobre a importância da preservação dos oceanos.

One of the best aquariums I’ve been to, easily. The central tank is insane - massive, crystal clear, and you keep coming back to it from different angles, spotting something new every time. What makes it stand out is how well it’s designed. It flows properly, never feels crowded or chaotic, and each ecosystem is done with real detail - from the colder environments to the tropical sections. Everything feels premium, clean, and actually relaxing to walk through. Not rushed, not gimmicky, just done right. If you’re in Lisbon, don’t overthink it - this is 100% worth doing.

Arrive at the main entrance of the Oceanário de Lisboa, where your ticket is validated for direct access. After a brief security check, you'll be able to explore all the exhibitions at your own pace.

What to expect

Oceanário de Lisboa

Opened in 1998, the Oceanário de Lisboa is one of the world’s largest aquariums, renowned for its central 5-million-liter saltwater tank and immersive design that simulates a single, continuous ocean.

Features

Central saltwater tank: With over 5 million litres of saltwater, this vast tank houses diverse marine life and creates the illusion of one interconnected ocean, making it a focal point for visitors. Made of acrylic, it curves overhead, enveloping you in blue paradise.

Global marine habitats: Explore detailed recreations of the North Atlantic, Antarctic, Temperate Pacific, and Tropical Indian Ocean, each home to unique species and ecosystems.

Forests Underwater exhibit: Designed by Takashi Amano, this display highlights the biodiversity of tropical forest ecosystems within an aquatic setting.

Submerged Universe exhibition: Available until January 7, 2026, this temporary exhibit offers a fresh perspective on underwater worlds.

What to bring

Bring a valid photo ID to match the name on your booking if requested at the entrance.

Wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking through large exhibition areas.

What’s not allowed

Pets, including guide dogs, are not permitted inside the Oceanário.

Weapons or sharp objects are strictly prohibited.

Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises.

Alcohol and drugs are not permitted inside the facility.

Accessibility

The Oceanário de Lisboa is wheelchair accessible, with ramps and elevators available throughout the building.

Accessible restrooms are available on site.

Your tickets are valid for a single entry at the time and day you choose for your visit.

The time you select is for entry to the premises, and does not limit your time spent exploring the exhibitions.

The Antarctic habitat is temporarily closed for renovation; penguins are expected to return in 2025.
