Our family thoroughly enjoyed this trip; it offered great value for money and was exceptionally well-organized. The highlights were riding the Skyrail and returning via the Scenic Railway. Activites at Rainforestation was excellent, featuring the Army Duck, indigenous dancing, and a zoo visit with a great lunch. The delicious lunch and the memorable photo with a koala made the day truly special

Train and Skyrail. One thing that can be improved- please add the bus service to the itinerary who will be picking customers up first the Army duck as we thought it was down under tours so we missed the activity and had to go later. If we had known who we were travelling with we would have been on time as we were waiting for an hour.

Great experience riding up on the scenic railway in the morning and returning on the sky rail with a view of cairns and the ocean. The Rainforestation tour was enjoyed to see the various animals and veregation during the army duck ride. Thanks for an awesome day for our family.

Scenic railway journey through the rainforest

Begin your day with a hotel pickup from Cairns, followed by a heritage train ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Travel through 15 hand-carved tunnels and 37 bridges, passing Stoney Creek Falls and Barron Gorge as you make your way to Kuranda.

Explore Kuranda Village

Upon arrival, enjoy free time in Kuranda Village, where you can browse local markets, cafés, and optional wildlife attractions.

Rainforestation Nature Park & Skyrail return

Head to the Rainforestation Nature Park, where you’ll get a closer look at native wildlife in the Koala & Wildlife Park, experience the Pamagirri Aboriginal dance and Dreamtime walk, and ride an Army Duck through the rainforest for a unique land-and-water tour. Then, hop on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, gliding over the rainforest canopy with stops at Red Peak and Barron Falls before descending back to Cairns.

What to bring

Wear comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, and a hat. A light jacket is recommended for the train journey.

What’s not allowed

Outside food and drinks are not permitted on the train or Skyrail. Smoking is prohibited in all transport vehicles and station areas.

Guide dogs are allowed on this experience.

Additional information

Rainforestation activities are included, but entry to Birdworld, the Butterfly Sanctuary, and Kuranda Koala Gardens is not included and can be purchased separately.
