A great day, with friendly and helpful staff. The train was comfortable and clean and offered stunning views as the train climbed the the mountain. The handout, given to us by train staff, provided extra information on the construction and history of the train. The skyrail provided further opportunities to see the stunning views. Having the ability to disembark allowed us get further views of the waterfall and the rainforest interior. We highly recommend

After experiencing a rough customer service agent on the phone that morning,upon arrival at Kuranda station,the experience was completely the opposite translating to a pleasant transition due to a mistake in my behalf with transportation,at the station in both ends it was a wonderful experience with the agents.We really enjoyed the time on board and at the village,thanks so much again for a wonderful time there 🙏🏻

The train to Kuranda offered spectacular views of the valleys and waterfalls. It was nice to have a stop to take pictures and take in the scenery. Kuranda village was a nice stroll to see the shops. The highlight of the trip was the cable car ride over the rainforest canopy. Seeing the beautiful blue butterflies over the trees was my favorite moment.

The views are stunning, the history on the train on the way to Kurrunda was very intersesting and well timed without being overbearing and loud. Really well executed, though I was glad to have a window seat on the right side. The Skyview on the way down was simply spectacular. Photos never do it justice but WOW.

Breathtaking rainforest views, with stunning sights of the Barron River and Barron Gorge. The journey was smooth and memorable, and Kuranda Village added a charming, relaxed touch to a truly scenic experience including Koala Gardens with the dancing Koalas

A fantastic day between the Kuranda Scenic railway, falls, tropical forest and Kuranda Village with its genious market. For the return, the skyrail was very exiting. We enjoyed our trip. Thank you. French people. We love Australia!

Enjoyed the day, first the rain then a look around Karunda village and then the cable can back down. The shop owners in the village don't like you to take photos which is funny because we where in one shop who where selling Kmart hair clips that are $5 for $35!! So be aware of some of the shops ripping off customers.

What’s not allowed

Outside food and drinks are not allowed on the Scenic Railway or Skyrail. Smoking is prohibited in all transport vehicles and station areas.

Additional information

The Skyrail departs from Smithfield (Cairns) Terminal, whereas the Scenic Rail departs from Freshwater Railway Station.

Children below 14 must be accompanied by an adult on the Skyrail and Scenic Rail.

This tour does not include hotel transfers and is for self-drive travelers. Guests must drive to Skyrail’s Smithfield Terminal and park their car at Skyrail Smithfield Terminal before taking a bus transfer to Freshwater Station.

The Scenic Train takes approximately 2 hours, while the Skyrail journey takes around 1.5 hours, including stops at Red Peak and Barron Falls.

Kuranda attractions (wildlife parks, markets, and other experiences) are not included and can be purchased separately upon arrival.
