Alles hat super geklappt! Schneller Eintritt, tolle Atmosphäre und ein wunderbarer Ort. Die Atmosphäre im Museum ist inspirierend und lädt dazu ein, die Kunstwerke in Ruhe zu genießen und sich in die Geschichte der Kunst einzutauchen! Das Museum selbst ist ein architektonisches Meisterwerk, das mit seiner prunkvollen Fassade und den imposanten Innenräumen begeistert.

Overall, the museum itself was impressive. The exterior and interior architecture was beautiful, and the standard exhibits were wonderful. I learned a lot about the history of Europe through the artwork. We also ate lunch at the cafe, which was a great experience, with good food and wonderful service. A few items prevented the review from reaching five stars. First, the entry experience was somewhat frustrating, as the voucher line was very slow. It would be better to get tickets directly to skip this line. Second, several of the rooms had no English, so we did not understand the context. Finally, the special coin exhibit was very limited or possibly closed. I would highly recommend this museum, and some small improvements would make it perfect.

Will surely visit KHM again, next time with friends . Each visitor must start the day with breakfast at KHM Cafe. A must itinerary , a very unique ambiente under the museum kuppel. A once in a lifetime experience exploring the masterpiece of Bruegel . The exhibit consists of collection of paintings which is the world largest. Will surely visit KHM with touring riends anytime this year.

It was great to finally visit and admire fantastic collection of Schatzkammer. It was also great opportunity to enjoy famous paintings of Rubens, Rembrandt, Bruegel. With great pleasure I visited temporary exhibition to watch works of Canaletto and Bellotto. Thanks to combo-ticket I paid less than if I bought two separate tickets :) Vistor from Poland - Henryk

Getting started

The museum is located on Maria-Theresien-Platz, with the main entrance at the front of the building, facing the square, with clear signs to guide you inside. If you've selected the guided tour option, meet your English-speaking guide at the entrance at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. Your guide will give a brief orientation and ensure that you're ready to bypass the queues with skip-the-line access, so you can head straight into the museum.

A world of imperial treasures & Habsburg heritage

Wander through the grand halls of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, home to celebrated Renaissance and Baroque works by Caravaggio, Titian, and Velázquez. Marvel at their stunning array of royal artifacts that showcase the wealth and power of the Habsburg dynasty. Admire beautifully crafted goldsmith work, regal jewelry, and other opulent pieces that once belonged to emperors and empresses.

The museum also boasts a renowned Egyptian collection, where mummies, sarcophagi, and sacred objects reveal the rituals, beliefs, and artistic legacy of ancient Egypt. Lastly, the Kunstkammer houses a treasure trove of intricate mechanical wonders, including astronomical instruments and ornate clocks.

If you’ve selected the Leopold Museum option, your experience continues with a visit to one of Vienna’s leading modern art museums, home to Austrian Expressionism and key works by Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt.

What to bring

Bring a valid photo ID to facilitate smooth entry, especially if you’re collecting pre-booked tickets or using student or senior discounts.

Carry a light jacket or shawl, as the museum’s air conditioning maintains a comfortable temperature, even during warmer days.

What's not allowed

Flash photography and tripods are not allowed, as they can damage the artwork and disturb other visitors.

Please refrain from bringing sketching or painting materials, except for pencils; colored pens, markers, or paints are not permitted in the galleries.

Food and drinks are not allowed inside the exhibition halls.

The small-group tour requires at least 4 participants; if this isn't met, you'll be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
