Our guide, Giovanni, was outstanding! He has an excellent knowledge of the Herculaneum site, of the Vesuvius eruption and how it affected Pompeii and Herculaneum, and particularly of the way the Romans lived at the time. He spoke clearly and made the tour very interesting, answering questions knowledgeably. He also looked after the group very well, ensuring everyone could hear clearly, and that we all walked through the site safely. It was a fascinating tour, made even more enjoyable by Giovanni's expertise. He is one of the very best guides we have experienced. I cannot recommend him more highly.

Fantastic tour and definitely the way to see Herculaneum. It's a smaller and less visited site compared to Pompeii so having an archaeologist as a guide meant more time spent at points of interest with someone who can point out things easily missed and explain the stories behind them. Our guide was excellent, very knowledgable and the headsets provided meant that nothing was missed.

Had an extremely knowledgeable guide who spoke good English and communicated well with all the party. The headsets were easy to use and efficient. Our guide started by explaining the difference between Pompei and Herculaneum and how those effected what had been found at the two sites. The museum was fascinating and the depth of the excavation is unbelievable.

Ww were late to start the tour due to train problems, but the rep at the gate radioed to find out where we could meet Francesco on the site. He was most welcoming and quickly provided a recap for the late joiners. Throughout he was knowledgeable and entertaining.

Really knowledgeable guide around heraculum The tour was delayed start by two hours which was slightly inconvenient but couldn't be helped and we still enjoyed the guides enthusiasm and sheer knowledge of the guide:)

Without hesitation this was the single best guided tour we took in Italy! Led by an outstanding guide, Luciano Leone, I was so glad I chose Herculaneum over Pompeii. The tour lasted 2 hours and as students of Antiquity we received insights previously unknown. We wished we could have lingered longer, but the heat was oppressive and the driver waiting. If you can only do one tour it should be this one! We all know of Pompeii, but this smaller gem must be seen!! Booking through headout was super easy and cost-effective!

The guide Giovanni was knowledgeable, pleasant and very professional. One of the best guides we have experienced during over 40 years of travel around the world. His presentation was interesting and we loved his personal remarks which gave the sightseeing tour a special flavour. He really made this remarkable place and horrible catastrophe come alive again.

Discovering the ruins and the Romans

The Herculaneum Archaeological Park is one of the best-preserved sites in the world. Finding out interesting stories of this site and how the 4000-5000 inhabitants lived here, is going to be a treat for you on this 2-hour guided tour. Visit this UNESCO World Heritage site with your skip-the-line access which has survived a disruptive earthquake and a deadly eruption. Get to know more about how Herculaneum was affected while being at its peak owing to its coastal location. It brought Rome’s patrician families to its resorts for exploring a relaxing. You will get a fair understanding of how the city was slowly gaining life by being renovated, till the terrible eruption of Mount Vesuvius happened, wiping out its inhabitants. All that you will see in 2 hours was once buried under ash and volcanic rocks 16-meter deep.
