Lockie was an absolutely fantastic tour guide who was knowledgeable, charismatic and friendly. Couldn't have asked for a better guide. All in all a fantastic day out for a great price, 100% recommend to anyone staying in hcmc.

Went with my two teenagers and honestly, even the sassy one was totally hooked. The tunnels are WILD (like, why is it so tiny??) and our guide, Minh, was so patient with everyone’s random questions. Pro tip: wear old clothes—you WILL get dusty crawling around. Wish we’d brought more water, but there’s a little shop halfway. Would do it again!

Took the morning tour. Pick up was ON TIME (rare for group tours imo). Our guide, Duy, was a legend—answered all my weird questions about the traps. The shooting range nearby is LOUD so maybe bring earplugs if ur sensitive. Got some cool pics outside but you can’t take photos once you’re crawling inside.

Went solo and ended up chatting with folks from Chile and Canada—funny how travel works. Tunnels blew my mind. The guide (can’t remember her name, sorry!) had stories from her granddad that made it feel real. Bring bug spray for the walk through the woods. Absolute highlight for me!

The experience itself was super interesting, but felt a bit rushed at some points. Our guide Bao knew LOTS and made sure everyone could hear (even with the big group). If you’re claustrophobic, maybe skip the crawling bit. Still, learned a ton—def worth it.

Getting started

Get picked up from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and settle in for a 90-minute drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels’ Ben Dinh site.

Cu Chi Tunnels

Start with a short film that introduces the tunnel network and its role during the Vietnam War. Then, explore the preserved underground maze—complete with living quarters, field hospitals, weapons storage, and booby traps once used by the Viet Cong. Wrap up your visit with a tasting of cassava and tea, a staple for soldiers who lived here during the war.

Lunch break

Enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant before heading south toward the Mekong Delta.

Mekong Delta exploration

Cruise along the Tien River, passing Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Tortoise Islands. Visit a coconut candy workshop, enjoy seasonal fruits and honey tea, and learn about Delta life. Take a rowing boat through narrow canals and hop on a short village bike ride to see daily rural life up close.

Folk music & return

Wind down with a live performance of Southern Vietnamese folk music before making your way back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain is rugged, and bring sunglasses, insect repellent, and a sun hat.

Bring small bags or backpacks, as large items may hinder movement through the tunnels.

What’s not allowed

Smoking is not allowed inside the tunnels.

Accessibility

The experience is not wheelchair and pram/stroller accessible.

This experience is not suitable for guests with mobility issues and claustrophobia as the terrain is uneven and the tunnels are very narrow.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
