What to expect
Basilica di San Clemente (12th century)
A working church known for its golden mosaic apse and quiet, atmospheric chapels.
4th-Century Basilica (Underground Level 1)
See preserved frescoes and early-Christian inscriptions that reflect Rome’s shift from pagan to Christian worship.
Mithraic Temple (Underground Level 2)
View the altar and chambers of the ancient cult of Mithras, hidden deep below the street level.
Underground Water Channel
Hear and see an active Roman-era water source still flowing beneath the city.
Wrapping up
Return to ground level and exit from the basilica at your own pace. No fixed end time — stay as long as you wish within opening hours.
