Very interesting home. Good video of man who lived there to watch. Good signage in English. Beautiful grounds to walk in. Good broad paths. Lots of side spots to explore. Some repair and scaffolding in place.

Una experiencia maravillosa en el Palacio y Parque de Monserrate. Los jardines exóticos y la hermosa arquitectura del palacio son realmente impresionantes. El acceso rápido de Headout funcionó a la perfección y nos ahorró bastante tiempo en la entrada. ¡Una visita totalmente recomendada!

La Quinta da Regaleira té racons realment fascinants, com el famós pou iniciàtic i el seu entramat de túnels, però l'experiència global queda molt deslluïda per la massificació turística. És gairebé impossible gaudir del misticisme o de la pau dels seus jardins quan has de fer cues monumentals només per fer una foto o per caminar pels senders. A més, la manca de control en l'aforament fa que un lloc que hauria de ser màgic es converteixi en un espai estressant i incòmode de visitar.

Head to the Park and Palace of Monserrate in Sintra and present your ticket at the entrance. Fast-track access lets you bypass the regular ticket line. Depending on your selected option, explore independently with an audio guide or meet your guide for a 1.5-hour tour.

What to expect

Monserrate Palace & Park

Explore one of Sintra's distinctive historic estates, where ornate palace interiors open onto landscaped gardens filled with plants from around the world.

Palace interiors: Explore spaces such as the Music Room, Library, and central hall while taking in Moorish, Gothic, and Indian-inspired architectural details.

Self-guided option: Use an audio guide available in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French to explore at your own pace.

Guided option: Join a 1.5-hour Portuguese or English-guided tour with no more than 20 guests, adding expert context to the palace, architecture, and surrounding park.

What to bring

Comfortable footwear: Wear comfortable walking shoes as the visit includes palace interiors and paths through the park, some of which can be steep.

For warmer days: Consider bringing water and a hat while exploring the outdoor areas.

Audio guide: If you've selected the audio guide option, download the audio app before arriving to avoid connectivity issues on-site.

Earphones: Carry your earphones for an immersive audio guide experience.

What's not allowed

Bringing your dog to restricted areas: Dogs are welcome in the Park of Monserrate, but they must stay on designated paths and out of areas marked as off-limits. Dogs must not disturb other visitors or animals.

Rules: Only one dog is allowed per visitor and must be kept on a non-extendable leash. Potentially dangerous breeds must be accompanied by someone over 16 and wear a muzzle and a leash no longer than one metre.

Accessibility

Parking: Two parking spaces are reserved for visitors with mobility restrictions.

Access inside the Palace: The Palace entrance and ground floor can be accessed via a ramp. However, the second floor and kitchen are not accessible to visitors with mobility restrictions.

Areas: Accessible toilets, as well as an accessible cafeteria and shop, are available.

Moving through the park: A recommended accessible route leads from the entrance towards the Palace, although some sections are steep and are best attempted with an assistant.

Reserve mobility equipment in advance: Manual folding wheelchairs and traction equipment are also available with advance reservation, subject to availability.

Guide dogs: Properly identified assistance dogs are allowed on site, and drinking bowls are available for them.

Additional information

Guided tour: The guided option lasts 1.5 hours and is available in Portuguese or English, depending on the option selected.

Group size: Guided tours are limited to a maximum of 20 guests.

Self-guided visit: The audio guide is available in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French.

Location: The Park and Palace of Monserrate is in Sintra, about 30 kilometers from Lisbon.

How to get there: You can reach Sintra easily by taking the train from Lisbon.
