The atmosphere in the cosy Gielgud theatre was perfect for Oliver. The cast was incredible. By the end when they were singing "you're one of the family", you really felt that you were. We grew up on this musical and it was so moving to feel like 'part of the family'. The children were 100% present to their characters and were totally believable. The adult cast were the same. We felt particularly lucky to have seen Simon Lipkin as Fagan. You really felt his good heart alongside his younger counterpart who was also fabulous, Aaron Macgregor as the Artful Dodger. Absolutely amazing how perfect each character was in this wonderful production. Wish I could go over and over but we're home in Australia now and can only enjoy our memories.

Going in I expected to love Oliver the main character as I assumed he would get most of the songs so I was delighted to see chorus songs like Oompa pa, I shall scream Mr Bumble and It's Your Funeral. The feeling of the show changes so many times and it feels like such a journey. Fagin was also outstanding, Simon Lipkin was such a physical actor and had his mannerisms well tuned. I can't wait to come back.

This show was recommended by my friend who is an actor himself. I am so grateful to him and proud to myself that I'm not sure how but could tailored few hours of my transitiing visit of London and watched the performance- This was just phenomenal- children are prodigious- the whole cast - shining stars, I was drowned in Emotions - lifetime memories Thank you so much for such incredibile evening in London

I went in with high expectations, as this show has a special place in my heart, and it was even better. Amazing performances, great use of the stage, the set design was super clever. The musical is "old", but this production made it feel fresh and new. Shoutout to Simon Lipkin, I'd seen a recording of his performance at the Olivier Awards, but seeing his Fagin live was an unforgettable experience.

The production was very well staged, and the scene changes were slickly handled. The performaces by Fagin and The Artful Dodger were, I thought, exceptional. At times, while good, I thought other vocals were strident and sometimes delivered as concert performances rather than being in tune with the emotional moment. It's a great musical and this was a memorable performance.

Energy. Wow. Score fab! Choreography astounding😍. Could a show be more entertaining - I don't know how. What a cast of characters. And in London town the setting is so much a part of the night out. A live orchestra gave it the gusto! And the cast amped the mojo! The best!

Written by Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist was critically acclaimed for exposing the cruel treatment of orphans during the mid-19th century and also its unromantic portrayal of the lives of criminals. Award-winning dramatist Bryony Lavery has adapted this tale in conjunction with Leeds Playhouse to put disabled artists on center stage. Amy Leach, who has directed The Wonderful Wizard of OZ, The Shelter, and We All Fall Down is all set to direct the production which promises to dazzle audiences from across the world!

The story

Born into a poor family, Oliver Twist is left orphaned after his father’s mysterious disappearance and his mother’s death during childbirth. Oliver finds a home in a sweatshop, where he is mistreated. Soon, however, Oliver encounters Artful Dodger and Fagin and joins their troupe of pickpockets. He revels in this new exciting and adventurous life as a criminal. His happiness, however, is short-lived and he finds himself falling under the influence of the vile Bill Sykes. Will Oliver be able to turn around a life filled with misfortune and poverty?

The whole cast and the orchestra were fantastic! The story moved along very well. The set design was fantastic and worked really well written the story of Oliver. Highly recommend!
