The story

Set in a mid-2000s high school, the plot follows basketball captain Troy Bolton and academic genius Gabriella Montez as they upend the social order by auditioning for the school musical. With the championship game, decathlon, and auditions scheduled for the exact same afternoon, the pressure to stick to the status quo mounts.
