Honestly, the tour blew my mind a little. We started out at the tunnels—so wild to actually crawl through them! Kinda tight for my liking but def worth it for the experience. Our guide, Anh, was super chill and answered every weird question I had (including what snacks they used to eat in the tunnels, lol). Later we hit up the palace and I geeked out over the old phones. Lunch was in this tucked-away spot with crispy spring rolls, which I still think about. Only thing, it rained mid-day and my poncho was NO match for Saigon downpours, but that just made it memorable. Would 100% bring my dad next time.

Went solo and was a bit nervous but ended up talking to ppl in the group. Guide (didn’t catch his name, sorry!) was mega informative without being boring. Liked the tunnels more than I thought I would tbh. It was kind of crowded at the war museum so felt rushed. Still, learned a lot. Bring water—sooo humid.

You’ll be picked up from your hotel in District 1 between 6-6:30am.. Begin the day with a guided visit to Ho Chi Minh City’s top sites before heading to the Cu Chi Tunnels.

City highlights

Independence Palace: Explore the preserved meeting halls, underground war bunkers, and strategy rooms central to Vietnam’s past.

Notre-Dame Cathedral: Snap a photo of the red-brick cathedral and its twin bell towers—one of the city’s oldest colonial relics.

Central Post Office: Step inside a grand building designed by Gustave Eiffel, featuring vaulted ceilings and vintage French-era maps.

Cu Chi Tunnels

After a Vietnamese lunch (if selected), travel to the Ben Dinh site for a guided, immersive look at one of Vietnam’s most significant war zones.

Orientation documentary: Begin with a short film introducing the Cu Chi region and its underground resistance system.

Tunnel exploration: Spend around 2 hours on-site exploring cramped tunnels, kitchens, field hospitals, storage units, and bunkers used by Viet Cong fighters.

Trap demonstrations: Learn how soldiers used camouflage and booby traps to defend their network—shown through live guide demonstrations.

Cassava & tea: End your visit by sampling boiled cassava and traditional tea—staples of survival during the war.

What to bring

Wear comfortable shoes as the terrain is rugged and bring sunglasses, insect repellent, and a sun hat.

Only bring small bags or backpacks as large items may hinder movement through the tunnels.

What’s not allowed

Smoking is not allowed inside the tunnels.

Accessibility

The experience is not wheelchair and pram/stroller accessible.

This experience is not suitable for guests with mobility issues and claustrophobia as the terrain is uneven and the tunnels are very narrow.
