  • Step into a world frozen in time—Pompeii, a city buried by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD and rediscovered in 1748. Walking through these ancient streets, you’ll be tracing the footsteps of a civilization nearly 2,000 years old, perfectly preserved beneath layers of volcanic ash.

Once you arrive, step through the entrance, and your journey back in time begins. With Mount Vesuvius looming in the background and centuries-old ruins stretching before you, it’s an experience that’s both breathtaking and surreal. Plan to spend about four hours here—there’s so much to take in. Wander through the Forum, admire the Basilica, or take a break in the shade near the amphitheater. Scattered throughout the city, you’ll find colorful frescoes, intricate statues, and remnants of daily life, from public baths and street fountains to bustling marketplaces that once thrived in Pompeii’s heyday.

As you explore the cobbled streets, you’ll start to notice just how much life back then mirrors our own. From wine barrels to household tools, the everyday details bring the past into focus, making it easy to picture the people who once called this place home.

Want to enhance your experience? Opt for Pompeii Plus, which gives you access to the suburban villas and the Antiquarium.
