The ride is spectacular! As your trip progresses, the view widens on dramatic glaciers and beautiful mountain panoramas, including of course the majestic Matterhorn! The track itself with its multiple tunnels and viaducts is a masterpiece of engineering!

This is an ESSENTIAL trip for anyone visiting Switzerland. 'Stunning' doesn't do justice to the views you get, and it is surprising how quickly you climb out from Zermatt to see views to die for. Don't be put off if it's cloudy in the town, likelihood is the clouds will only be in the valley, and up above will be warm and sunny (as it was for us last week). I took the opportunity to hike down between two fo the train stations when we came down - probably the most beautiful walk I've ever done. 100% a 'must do'......

The ride offers beautiful views of a whole range of 4,000-meter peaks. The mountain railway takes us into a high-alpine landscape with a great panoramic view, close proximity to the glaciers, and of course, a prominent view of the Matterhorn and its history. However, the restaurant was overwhelmed, and there was a long wait. Tickets purchased on-site are valid for 10 days and can be used on any day. On Headout, they are only valid for one day, but the mountain railways accept them for 10 days!

Was unsure what to expect but our journey to the "top" was a highlight of our time and made for the perfect day trip. We rode all the way up and the hiked down to a great lunch spot! The views were beyond what we expected. Would 10/10 recommend.
