This is an ESSENTIAL trip for anyone visiting Switzerland. 'Stunning' doesn't do justice to the views you get, and it is surprising how quickly you climb out from Zermatt to see views to die for. Don't be put off if it's cloudy in the town, likelihood is the clouds will only be in the valley, and up above will be warm and sunny (as it was for us last week). I took the opportunity to hike down between two fo the train stations when we came down - probably the most beautiful walk I've ever done. 100% a 'must do'......

Was unsure what to expect but our journey to the "top" was a highlight of our time and made for the perfect day trip. We rode all the way up and the hiked down to a great lunch spot! The views were beyond what we expected. Would 10/10 recommend.

Easy scan and go system with QR code. The train had panoramic windows for better pictures. Your tips to seat on the right side while going up was great.

We explored the Matterhorn with the Gornergrat railway. Everything worked out well with the tickets so far, with one criticism: we lined up with the CR code tickets we were sent, but we discovered that you have to redeem the CR code ticket for the actual entry ticket at the ticket counter beforehand. So, after a long wait in line, we had to go back to the ticket counter. Suggested solution: maybe a note during ticket purchase that you first have to get a real ticket, or did I miss that?

The view from Gornergrat is one of a kind. A trip that is always worth it.\n\nHowever, buying tickets online is not recommended. It carries too many risks. Thanks to a cashier at the ticket counter who gave us tickets, we were able to visit Gornergrat without having to pay extra. The purchase wasn't even confirmed on the railway portal; we only had the proof on our phone. However, the control system did not accept our tickets.\nAdvice from the cashier at the ticket counter: 'Never buy tickets online, we have huge problems with it! Buy your tickets from us at the counter.'

The railway is a technical masterpiece. Hats off to the people who made it possible years ago!!!! The view of the Matterhorn and the surrounding mountain giants was wow! The viewing platform, the dining facilities, and the exhibition are very well designed. Despite good organization when boarding and exiting the train, there was some jostling. There were simply too many people!
