The greatest reward awaits at the top, in a cirque of glaciers and peaks over 4,000 meters high, including the famous Matterhorn—the most impressive mountain in the Alps. It’s truly spectacular!

The trip up to the Gornergrat platform on the Glacier Express is already an exceptional and magnificent journey. Unfortunately, the Asians—who think they can do whatever they want, and they’re the only ones who behave this way—stand right in front of the windows wherever they go, unaware that they aren’t the only ones admiring the scenery. Regardless of the number of peaks over 4,000 meters, only one is truly unique and stands out from the rest to take first place among all the peaks in the Alps (the Matterhorn). That’s my opinion, as someone who lives in Savoie, surrounded by mountains.

Sit on the right side of the train on the journey up for some of the best Matterhorn views along the route.

Go early morning for clear views. Get off at stop before the top and hike to lake. Then jump back on for top. Very beautiful and train comfortable.
