This Treasure Hunt 101 Session introduces you to the hobby of metal detecting and treasure hunting at an iconic Melbourne beach. Across almost two hours, the focus is fun, adventure, excitement, and learning as you move from simple practice sweeps to real buried targets.

• Start with an equipment use workshop where you learn how to use metal detecting equipment, practice handling it on the sand, and understand how different signals indicate potential buried treasure. The format blends instruction with 69 Tours’ trademark storytelling so every step feels like part of a larger search narrative.
• Throughout the session, you work with an experienced treasure hunter as your personal coach, who demonstrates techniques, helps you read the detector’s feedback, and guides your search strategy so you are an active participant rather than a passive observer.
• All required gear is covered through equipment hire, and non-alcoholic drinks are provided so you can focus on the hands-on discovery without arranging anything yourself. Your coach also shares how to approach future treasure hunts beyond this introductory experience.
• As you search the beach, you hunt for real items, keep your finds, and take home a lucky charm coin as a small souvenir of your first treasure hunt. This is the only adventure of this kind in Melbourne, and your pick-up and drop-off back within the 3km CBD radius, including Station Pier, are included at the end of the experience.
