We attended the Versailles tour on our last visit to Paris. Because it was winter we just toured the palace. It was easy to meet with our group. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodated the group well. Versailles was very crowded, just like any other historic site /museum.

Glittering Hall of Mirrors and other opulent features

Begin your visit by exploring the ornate King and Queen's State Apartments. Learn about the French monarchy and explore the themed salons and their elaborate ceiling paintings. Next, make your way to the glittering Hall of Mirrors. Designed to protect the ornate walls and ceilings from smoke, the hall’s 357 mirrors were strategically placed to reflect the light of candles. With just a few flames, the reflection from so many mirrors was enough to light up the whole hall!

Additional information

During high season, from Apr through Oct, it is recommended to visit the Palace early in the morning, right when it opens.
Tue and weekends generally see the most traffic, especially on days of water fountain shows.

Meet your guide in front of the Statue of Louis XIV in the “Place d'Armes” right in front of the Palace.

Your guide will be waiting for you in front of the Statue of Louis XIV and will carry a Paris Trip flag and hold a Headout sign for easy recognition.
Please do not go directly to the castle. Meet your guide at the meeting point.
