We watched Avenue Q on Aug 29th 2026 in the Shaftesbury Theatre. The performance was on point and the amenities fulfilled the expectations. It was the first time we saw it in a live performance. Cast was lovely - humorous, present, totally with us all the time. The production involved breaking the fourth wall several times, perfectly timed - always seemed right. As usual, there was a long queue during break at the bar and toilets. Practically unavoidable, but I'm still waiting for a creative venue to break that law. The show was hilarious!! The actors were remarkably talented, and the story was charming, resonant, and joy-filled. What a great show!! (But seriously mature!!! I understand the age restrictions and clarity- it was pretty grown up... which made it incredible for all the grown ups, but good to listen to!)

The cast was brilliant and energetic. Amazing voices especially the two lead characters. I found all the themes so contemporary and surprisingly personal. I loved those characters--they are me... all of them at different times in my life!

Every single performer was giving it their all; their voices were incredible, their acting was top notch, and most impressive of all was the expertise they displayed managing the puppets, each character was uniquely alive in their own way. Fantastic show!

Some of the performances were outstanding (Christmas Eve and Monster Kate in particular). The band was great (trumpet especially). It's not easy to deliver what they do and I always admire and love when a great cast puts in a shift.

The story
