General feedback on these 2 trips: Loved both caves - Mammoth was huge and had so many different interesting aspects, it was good to have a self-guided tour except for the fact that my headphone guided tour stopped working on No. 8 so I missed a bit (when I reported this when handing it back it was generally dismissed and the person said that it just needed a fast reset and was almost immediately ready for use again (this felt quite rude!) - I wish I had known this/it was on instructions as I would have come back for renewal so that I could have enjoyed No. 9 and the woodland walk back with instruction. Re.Lake Cave - a bit concerned that there was no mention of the number of steps needed to climb on this walk; some people we saw were really struggling and I wonder if they would have considered attending the walk differently if they had known about the number and type of steps necessary. Afterwards we went on the Wildflower walk (unguided) after the Lake tour and was disappointed that there were absolutely no labels on any of the plants/trees. But it was good to be able to walk through the area which was lovely. Apart from these comments the 2 tours were great and we really did enjoy them.

Lovely experience. Must-see place. Natural wonder. Rich history and plenty to learn for both kids n adults. Ample parking. Helpful staff, especially Ocean. Headsets provided for self-operated history lessons. The cave is naturally cooler and the outside world is warmer, especially after climbing a lot of stairs outwards. There is a separate exit for people who don't want to climb those steep stairs. It was a short cardio exercise for an unfit person like me :) There is a short bush walk from the exit of cave back to the reception which crosses the main road, so need to be careful. Plenty of souvenirs available. We will try the other caves next time.

We had a great day exploring both caves. The guided tour was amazing and the guide very knowledgeable. The self guided tour at Mammoth caves was very good as well. How lucky are we to be able to explore these caves as they are now - great experience

Hi, The cave is magnificent. Audio great. My wife and I. 75 and 73. Found the final 160 steps challenging with 4 brief stops needed to catch our breath. A gentleman we had to overtake was struggling. !!!! His son, 45 ish. Was very concerned. !!!!! I suggest a return to the start before 160 steps be available for very vulnerable customers. If not a STRONG WARNING. On line or before starting.

Mammoth Cave was an amazing! We had a mixed bag with grandad, parents and kids attending. The stairs were a little hard on grandad but not too bad. Going early was definitely key because there were less people as you have to double back at the end and the walkways are narrow to pass others. The cave system was stunning and worth the experience.

Absolutely loved visiting Mammoth Cave! It was such a unique experience and honestly so interesting seeing everything inside the cave. The walk through was beautiful, and learning about the history and how the cave was formed made it even more enjoyable. Definitely worth visiting if you’re down south — I’d highly recommend it!

What to bring

Capes Raptor Centre

Wear comfortable walking shoes suitable for unsealed gravel paths.

You may bring your own food, but please avoid glass products, alcohol, straws, and barbecues.

Bring weather-appropriate clothing, as the experience operates rain or shine.

Still and video cameras for personal use are welcome (flash and external lighting are not permitted).

Mammoth Cave

Bring comfortable walking shoes suitable for boardwalks and gentle slopes.

Carry a valid photo ID if requested at the entrance.

Consider bringing a light jacket, as cave interiors can be cool.

What’s not allowed

Capes Raptor Centre

Flash photography and external lighting are not permitted for the wellbeing of the birds.

Glass products, alcohol, straws, and barbecues are not allowed on the premises.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the grounds.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Pets are not permitted, except for registered assistance animals.

The main 1km bush walk is an unsealed gravel path, best suited for all-terrain prams and wheelchairs.

A shorter, stroller-friendly route is available for families with young children or those needing easier access.

Accessible parking spaces are available on site.

Family-friendly amenities and accessible restrooms are available.

Mammoth Cave

The cave is accessible via gently sloping boardwalks, making it suitable for families, seniors, and visitors with limited mobility.

Capes Raptor Centre

Please arrive on time; the Birds of Prey Encounter show starts promptly.

Allow at least 90 minutes for your visit to enjoy both the encounter and the forest walk.

The centre is open rain or shine unless severe weather poses a risk; Bird of Prey Encounters may be adjusted or cancelled in heavy rain or wind. Check the centre’s website or social media for updates.

Complimentary parking is available, including coach and accessible spaces.

Drinks and ice cream are available for purchase; picnic areas and a gift shop are on site.

Your visit supports the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of birds of prey in Western Australia.

Mammoth Cave

This is a self-guided audio tour; allow approximately 1 hour for your visit.

Audio guides are available in English, French, German, Malay, and Mandarin.

The experience concludes with a walk through the Marri and Karri forests.

Transport to and from the cave is not included in your ticket.

Children must be supervised at all times during the visit.

The cave features prehistoric fossils and unique limestone formations—please do not touch or disturb any natural features.
