The place is fantastic with good environment. One remark for improving the bath. You might install dryer for the swimming suite. At the secret lagoon they have it and very useful to remove a bit of water quickly.

The facility is excellent and the process is well thought out. The main bath area is good size and has enough space for people to relax and enjoy the bath.

Getting Started

Arrive at Mývatn Nature Baths, located just a few minutes from Lake Mývatn. Check in at the front desk, then head to the changing rooms to prepare for a serene geothermal experience.

What to Expect

Mývatn Nature Baths

Set against the dramatic landscape of northern Iceland, Mývatn Nature Baths offer a quieter escape with sweeping views of Lake Mývatn, abundant birdlife, surrounding lava formations, and nearby mountain peaks.

Features

Geothermal lagoon: Immerse yourself in mineral-rich waters heated naturally from 2,500 meters underground, known for their skin-cleansing qualities.

Steam baths: Relax in two natural steam rooms that use geothermal steam venting directly from the earth.

Hot tub: Sink into the outdoor hot tub while enjoying panoramic views and the fresh Nordic air.

What to bring

Bring swimwear as it is required for entry to the pools.

What’s not allowed

Alcohol and smoking are not permitted on the premises.

Large bags are not allowed inside the baths.

Bringing your own food and drinks is prohibited.

This experience is wheelchair accessible.

Additional information

Mývatn Nature Baths will open new facilities in early 2026. Construction work is ongoing, so minor disturbances may occur.

It's best to avoid light-colored swimwear as minerals in the water may cause discoloration.

The minimum age for paid admission is 13; children aged 0-12 can enter for free.

Opening hours are 12pm-10pm daily, with special hours on December 24th, 25th, and 31st from 12pm-4pm. The baths are closed on January 1st.

The last entry to the baths is at 9pm.

The area is accessible by car and is close to major towns in North Iceland.
