Notre Dame Cathedral
Facts About the Notre Dame Cathedral
Notre Dame is over 130 meters tall, 48 meters tall and was built between 1163 & 1345. It is one of the largest religious buildings in the world.
The Book, The Hunchback of Notre Dame was written to increase appreciation for the building.
The French Gothic influence can be seen in the way the statues, gargoyles & chimeras are constructed.
We waited in the line to walk up the steps to the top for a little over 2 hours! It was worth the wait, as the views and seeing the insides was absolutely spectacular! I would recommend going as early as possible to avoid the long lines. - Pdolinaz
Booked a bell tower tour that skipped the hour long entry line. Lots of climbing - over 400 steps in tight spaces but well worth the climb. The tour provided interesting details about the Cathedral construction, gargoyles and bell towers. The view from the top is amazing. There is no skip the line to enter the cathedral. The line wrapped around the plaza but only took 10 minutes to get through. - Ksears21
This has been the first time in absolute years that I’ve seen this church in all its glory. Every other time there has been some kind of ongoing renovations - and while necessary, it has spoiled the beauty of it. - Belle Noel
