Get lost in the interesting world of French Royalty
Are you someone who doesn’t like large crowds and wants to enjoy the beauty and history of French architecture? Then, this tour might be the answer to your dilemma. Situated along the banks of the river Marne, the Champs Sur Marne Château is a treat for history and architecture lovers. Originally constructed for Louis XIV’s financier, Paul Poisson de Bourvallais, this chateau has hosted the likes of French philosopher Denis Diderot and Alfonso XIII, the King of Spain. With booklets and tablets placed around the venue, you can leisurely explore the Salon Chinois, which was built to bring a little bit of China to France. Next, move on to the children’s dining room which was exclusively reserved for French banker Louis Cahen d'Anvers’s children to have their meals away from the adults, as was customary at that time.
Take a leisurely stroll in the garden overlooking the Marne River
Once you are done touring the chateau, step out for some fresh air into the mixed garden. Created to fit the strict symmetry of French gardens and the opulence of English gardens, this garden is a great way to relax after your tour. What’s more, parterre of broderies, flowering bouquets, and the special sculpture depicting the sea nymph Scylla turning into a monster is surely a treat for sore eyes. So, find a designated area where you can sit down and munch on some snacks as you watch the Marne.
