The Avio Castle is a huge complex that overlooks the Val Lagarina and has been around for over 10 centuries and was often visited by intellectuals and artists, the results of which can be seen in the interiors of the castle. One of its most salient features is that its characteristics counterbalance one another. The exterior of the Castle has defensive walls and looming towers while inside, there lies a lush garden of vines and cypresses that you can explore. There is also a “Room of Love” and a Keep that celebrates war, knightly customs, and courtly love through enchanting frescoes.

The historic place is also suitable for your young ones. Through game-based trails, you can discover stories and characters that breathed life into the castle many moons ago.

Please keep in mind that the climb up to the castle is a bit steep and is challenging to access for those who have walking problems.

It's recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Operating Hours

Wed to Sun: 10am to 6pm.

Time slots are available every 60 mins from 10am to 5pm.

By Bus

The closest bus stop is Sabbionara Via Morielle. It is a quick 11-minute walk to the attraction.

Board buses B307, B334 & B335 to get you there.

By Car

If you're driving to the attraction, take A22 motorway (Autostrada del Brennero), exit at the Ala-Avio toll gate, between Verona and Trento, then follow the signs for Castello di Avio.
