We had a wonderful time visiting the The National Aquarium Abu Dhabi with our 22-month-old daughter. It was such a fun and memorable experience for our family! She was completely fascinated by the colorful fish, sharks, and other marine life, and her excitement made the visit even more special. The aquarium is well-maintained, family-friendly, and easy to explore with a toddler. There were so many beautiful zones that kept her engaged and curious throughout our visit. Watching her discover and learn about God’s amazing creations brought us so much joy. We highly recommend it to families with young children. It’s a perfect place to create precious memories while introducing little ones to the wonders of the underwater world. We had an amazing time at The National Aquarium Abu Dhabi. The layout is beautiful, and the variety of marine life is staggering, walking through the underwater glass tunnel were major highlights. Whether you want to learn about the aquarium's turtle rehabilitation efforts or the UAE's history as a pearl-diving community, the aquarium is your go-to destination.

Explore the sunken wrecks of the Red Sea, where corals and tropical fish have made their homes, and see lobsters and sea sponges in the Atlantic Caves.

It was our first time to visit the National Aquarium, i enjoyed the visit my family especially my daughter and son. They enjoyed playing in the sand volcano effect and the coloring of the animals and was shown to the screen afterwards. Thank you and keep up the good job team

Why visit the National Aquarium in Abu Dhabi?

In addition to being designed on an epic scale, the National Aquarium is also home to over 35,000 aquatic animals from 300+ species of fish, birds, amphibians, arachnids, and reptiles. The National Aquarium is part of the overall vision of Al Qana which reflects Abu Dhabi’s Vision 2030.

The aquarium is made up of 10 themed zones, each offering a unique chance to discover not just rare and exotic species, but also the existence of numerous ecosystems. Visitors get to view and experience the magnitude and raw beauty of marine life with creatures sourced from the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea to the Amazon, the Pacific, the Mediterranean, and the frozen waters of the Arctic.

Conservation & Education

All marine animals in the National Aquarium are responsibly and ethically sourced from around the world. The aquarium features the largest ever underwater tunnel, making the visitor experience all the more exciting and inclusive. As part of its conservation efforts, the aquarium also features a department dedicated entirely to education. This department will undertake a variety of entertaining shows, 60 educational exhibitions, and interactive and live-feeding sessions. With an upgrade to the All Access option, take a walk along the Glass Bridge and marvel at the gorgeous views on the Glass Bottom Boat tour. Get a peek behind the curtains on a Behind the Scenes tour of the aquarium and take home memories for a lifetime.

The Magical Mermaid show

Watch mermaids glide through the waters of the National Aquarium in a live underwater performance designed for families and children of all ages. The 30-minute show runs on August 23–24 and August 30–31, with showtimes at 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm. This limited-time experience combines ocean life with theatrical storytelling, making it ideal for birthdays, family outings, or simply a special day in Abu Dhabi. Aquarium staff are available to assist families, and the show is accessible for toddlers, kids, and adults alike.

Getting There

By bus

The closest bus stop is Khaleej Al Arabi St / Bus Interchange. It is a quick 4-minute walk to the attraction.

Board buses #21, #22, #101, and more to get you there.

It takes less than 30 minutes to reach Al Qana from Downtown Abu Dhabi. If you’re coming by bus, take route #56 which passes through the Al Maqta region.
