My husband and I took part in the sunrise hike and had the most phenomenal time. We were collected from our hotel by Toni who messaged us the day prior to give us all the information that we needed. Equipment such as walking poles and head torches were provided so we felt safe up the hike. The hike itself has it's challenges as experienced hikers I would recommend wearing hiking boots as the walk itself is steep with moments of loose skree so ankle support is a must for the walk down! Once you reach the top the views are breathtaking, the sunrise makes the journey worth it, you have your breakfast while waiting for the sun, it can get a little chilly so bring a jacket! You can spend time at the top looking at the steam from the volcano and we even had some monkey visitors who were a delight to see!!

First of all, I had the most wonderful guide ever!! His name was Kadek Mertawan and hi took very good care of our group!! He made sure everyone was alright all the way to the top! We was also in a hurry and he made sure that we come back in good time so that we could catch our boat later the same day. The driver was also amazing! Spoke really good English and was super lovley. He made us very comfy on the way back so we could get some sleep on our way back. The whole experience was super good even tho we had the worst possible weather!

Had the best experience with Darma as our guide up Mount Batur! He was super kind, even carried my mum’s bag for most of the trek. Plus, he sorted us out with some coffee and insta worthy photos. The views were absolutely stunning - an unforgettable experience. Definitely recommend booking with these guys. You won’t regret it!

Kadek was a great guide/driver. He was on time at pickup, drove safely and was easy to talk to on the drive to Mount Batur. The trek went a little over time but I never felt rushed when heading to the hot springs or coffee plantation. A great experience overall and would recommend him as a guide/driver.

Wake up well before dawn and get seamless transfers in a shared vehicle from your hotel, and back. Hike kilometers up Mount Batur and treat yourself to a stunning sunrise.

Chasing a sunrise, like no other

Chase Bali’s most magical sunrise on a guided Mount Batur hike, topped off with scenic views, breakfast cooked over volcanic steam, and optional post-hike indulgences.

Getting started

Start early, before dawn. You’ll be picked up from your hotel in a shared or private vehicle, depending on your ticket. Drive to the base of Mount Batur, where your guide will greet you. Show your booking confirmation and ID at the entry point. Quick security check before the trek begins—no large bags or outside food allowed.

The hike is long: 1.5 hours one-way. And it gets chilly – the summit temperature ranges between 8° to 15° C
