Visiting Park Güell was one of the highlights of my trip to Barcelona. The architecture was absolutely stunning, and the colorful mosaics were even more beautiful in person. The entry was very quick which was great, especially after a long walk from the Sagrada. The park itself is beyond beautiful, every part is a reminder of Gaudi and his amazing work. The guide was also really good and talked beautifully about Gaudi and the history of the park. A beautiful experience, would highly recommend to anyone visiting Barcelona

The guide was fantastic. He was oriental - born and brought up in Barcelona. Very nice English accent and soothing voice. He took such good care of the attendees and made the tour felt like a breeze. Took us to the world of Anthony Gaudi in a mesmarizing way. Strongly recommend taking this tour. You would miss a lot of history otherwise

Getting Started

Arrive at the recommended entrance on Avinguda del Santuari de Sant Josep de la Muntanya, where escalator access is available. Present your ticket at the main gate for validation and proceed through a brief security check before entering the park.

What to Expect

Park Güell

Park Güell stands as one of Antoni Gaudí’s most celebrated works, designed in the early 20th century and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This public park showcases Gaudí’s signature style, merging natural forms with vibrant mosaics and innovative structures.

Features

Hypostyle Hall: Explore this columned space, originally intended as a marketplace, featuring 86 Doric columns and a ceiling adorned with colorful mosaic medallions.

Plaça de la Natura (Greek Theater): Visit the park’s central terrace, bordered by a serpentine bench covered in trencadís mosaic, offering sweeping views over Barcelona.

Dragon Stairway: Admire the iconic mosaic salamander, known as “El Drac,” which greets visitors at the main entrance and has become a symbol of the park.

Viaducts and Pathways: Wander along elevated stone viaducts and winding paths, designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape and provide unique perspectives of the city.

Upgrades: Want to make your visit even more memorable? Add a multilingual audio guide to uncover hidden stories and fascinating insights as you explore.

What to bring

Wear comfortable walking shoes as this experience involves a fair amount of walking on uneven paths and multiple stairways.

During the summer months, it is recommended to bring hats/caps to protect from the sun, and water for hydration due to high temperatures.

Accessibility

For visitors with mobility problems, Park Güell offers two free wheelchairs for hire (subject to availability).

The tourist coach car park has three places for people with reduced mobility.

Additional information

During peak season, April to August, expect a considerable wait time at entry.

Note: Park Güell has three entrances—choose what suits you! Av. del Santuari de Sant Josep de la Muntanya has escalators (though it’s steep), Carretera del Carmel (nº 23) is ideal for coach drop-off, and Carrer d’Olot brings you right into the Monumental Zone.

If you'd like to skip a lot of climbing and stairs, a great option is to take public transport like Bus #24 or grab a taxi. This will get you to the entrance at Carretera del Carmel, which is just a short 100 meters from the bus stop. You'll find the area with the monuments only another 100 meters in, and mostly flat 200-meter stroll!

Children under 6 can enter for free, they just need free tickets. For a seamless entry, book their free tickets during checkout.

Guests are allowed to bring outside food and water into the venue. However, they must consume it in the designated picnic areas only.

The audio guide is available on the Headout app. Instructions to download will be shared with your ticket, and you can also access them offline. Do bring your own headphones.
