We chose the Louvre for the experience of visiting one of the world's greatest museums. The crowds...what can you do...Paris is popular. The visit was entirely mind-blowing, from the vast open viewing rooms to the exquisite craftsmanship of the halls,, floors and ceilings. However, like the announcements in the metro about pick-pockets, as we were walking up a flight of stairs, my wife was suddenly surprised when she felt someone behind her attempting to fiddle with her handbag. She stopped and turned around. I had no idea why she stopped. As she explained, the couple behind continued walking passed us. And in seconds they were gone. That was a lesson when in busy places: keep your handbag in front of you. Apart from that weird instance, we will visit the Louvre again. And the cost of tickets is an incentive to further explore the Louvre on our next visit to Paris. ...the visit: 9/10 ... a few photosRosanna

A great experience in really impressive buildings. We really liked the exhibitions, as well as the organization, so that not too many visitors came in at the same time.Joëlle

Virtually no waiting at the tills, no crowds in the halls, very fine "art est dans la rue" exhibition. Back to the permanent exhibits: Seurat, Manet, Monet, etc.Sandra

The exhibits, of course, but also the interior. It has an interesting design and layout. There were a lot of people in the building.
The Louvre Museum
The Louvre is the most visited museum in the world with over 10+ million visitors every year. Once you've entered, feel free to browse through some of the 380,000 exhibits (with 35,000 currently on display) in the Louvre Museum. These are spread over 8 curatorial departments - Egyptian Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Islamic Art; Decorative Arts; Sculpture; Paintings; Drawings, and Prints. Some of the must-sees that you should try to not miss at the museum are Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Liberty Leading the People by Eugène Delacroix, Michelangelo's The Dying Slave and the Rebellious Slave, the ancient Greek statues of Venus de Milo and Winged Victory of Samothrace, Hammurabi’s Code from 1754 B.C. and much more.
The Orsay Museum
Established in 1986, the Orsay Museum is one of the newest museums in Paris but also one of the most important. It is an institution that houses paintings from one of the most influential periods of French Art, the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist eras of the late 19th Century. At the Orsay Museum, you will not only see famous paintings but also have the chance to catch sweeping views of Paris from its top floor. Admire here masterpieces from artists such as Paul Cezanne, Frederic Bazille, Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, and Alfred Sisley. The exhibitions are arranged in a chronological manner, with early 19th-century sculptures and classical paintings on the ground floor, leading up to the Impressionist paintings on the second and top floors. Most of the highlights of the Orsay Museum are on the top floor.
