Our visit to the Palace of Versailles was simply breathtaking—especially for my two children, ages 9 and 13. The history of the place, the magnificent interiors, and the incomparable splendor captivated us all. From the very first glance at the façade, you could sense the enormous scale and the significance that Versailles has held in European history over the centuries.
The story of Louis XIV and France’s rise to absolute monarchy is fascinating, and the tour through the state rooms brought those events to life. The child-friendly presentation was very well done: we felt like part of a grand narrative that interwove politics, art, and everyday life. The chronicles, portraits, and historical artifacts brought history to life without getting bogged down in dry details.
What particularly impressed us was the decor: The paintings, stucco work, gilded details, and the craftsmanship evident everywhere make Versailles a total work of art. The opulent rooms—from the Hall of Mirrors to the Marble Hall—exude a timeless elegance that still leaves a lasting impression today. For the children, it was fascinating to see how architecture and craftsmanship harmonize to create such a striking atmosphere.
The splendor that characterizes Versailles was evident in every corner: chandeliers, stucco work, colorful marble inlays, and the imposing staircases of the past. At the same time, there were subtle rooms and details that radiated tranquility and invited reflection. The blend of overwhelming splendor and carefully designed transitions allowed us to experience the setting as a living stage of a bygone high culture, without feeling overwhelmed.
The gardens surrounding the palace were almost magical: wide avenues, symmetrical parterres, fountains, and hidden vistas invited us to take a stroll and offered fantastic photo opportunities. The children were thrilled by the water features and the vast green spaces where they could roam in wonder. Overall, the visit was a wonderful journey through history, art, and nature, which we as a family thoroughly enjoyed. We recommend Versailles to anyone who wants to be enchanted by history, magnificent interiors, and stunning gardens.

Michael Voss

We loved this visit to Palace of Versailles, it was very easy to book and get the tickets, the entrance was smooth, for any reason we were guided to a smaller queue. The palace is enormous and beautiful, plenty of history, art and luxury things for every taste. We enjoyed till last minute the amazing gardens, it's a paradise, we highly recommend this activity and the Headout company.

The day visit was very nice, however was disappointed that the fountains were not on which would have made the experience more enjoyable. Another issue that could be improved is to provide seating for those who are seniors or who have physical disabilities, whilst queing to get into the palace.
The audio availability could be made more prominent to visitors on entry. The ticket booth for the train was not in the same place as boarding the train, so clearer direction could be given.
The grounds, the lake, Marie Antoinette house, Hall of mirrors and the palace itself were well worth visiting along with written information provided. Personally, on the day of our visit there was far too many people to enjoy it fully. Overall a good experience.

The place is truly fantastic, and arriving with your ticket already in hand is by far the best option.
Unfortunately, I had selected the audio guide in Spanish, but it turned out to be in English.

Pena Palace is marvellous. We spent roughly two hours in the castle and the park. I love the details of the building, the tiles and other handmade beauties. Between Pena and Quinta we had some time and we decided to take the hiking route down to Sintra. It is doable but proper shoes are important!
The route worth the effort: charismatic cliffs on the upper side followed by a botanical garden feeling.
Quinta palace promises more than its real value. There is only a small exhibition in the palace, the garden is nice but less interesting after the park of Pena palace.
All in all, a perfect day trip from Lisbon. Managable with combination of public transport and a taxi in Sintra from the railway station to Pena palace.

Buying tickets was easy. No problems getting in. Fair price. It’s a shame that you don’t realize until later that you’re not booking through the palace’s official website. When you proceed with the 10% discount on your second booking, you find out that you’re not getting a fair deal. The price is twice as high as booking directly. Too bad.
