Went with my partner for the afternoon sail, and it was SO RELAXING. I’m not usually much for boats tbh but this was smooth and steady, barely even noticed the waves. We saw a pod of dolphins and literally everyone lost their minds (in a good way). Bring a hat, the sun is sneaky. Snacks were fresh (cheese was my fav). Would def do again if I ever come back.

Took my parents for their anniversary. The crew was super nice and explained everything, even in simple English for my folks. Water was a bit chilly but snorkeling spot was BEAUTIFUL. Only minus: felt a bit crowded at times but manageable. Worth it for the scenery alone.

This trip was the highlight of our stay. Booked last minute and got lucky with the weather—clear skies, calm seas. Saw two whales up close (literally RIGHT next to the boat, wild). Captain had loads of fun facts. Snack plate was surprisingly good (don’t skip the olives). Bring sunscreen, you’ll need it.

Experience was decent but honestly thought we’d see more wildlife. Couple dolphins, that’s it. Views of Los Gigantes cliffs are awesome tho. Boat was clean, staff chill. Just maybe not the most thrilling if ur hoping for NatGeo stuff.
  • Spot whales and dolphins off Los Gigantes on a 3-hour eco-sailboat cruise with a small group, onboard snacks, and time to swim or snorkel in calm Atlantic bays.

    Getting started

Make your way to Puerto de Los Gigantes, where your crew will welcome you on board the sailboat. After a quick safety briefing and a simple explanation of the route, you can choose a comfortable spot on deck as the boat leaves the harbor and heads toward the Teno-Rasca marine reserve.

    What to expect

Once you are out on the open water, the crew begins scanning the sea for movement and fins, pointing out any whales, dolphins, or seabirds that appear near the boat. This stretch of coast is known for regular sightings of pilot whales and several dolphin species, which often surface close enough for you to watch their behavior in a calm, unhurried way.

The crew shares straightforward commentary about the animals you see, how to recognize them, and why the Teno-Rasca corridor is so important for marine life. Because the sailboat relies mainly on wind power, there is less engine noise, so you can hear the sea and enjoy a quieter approach to wildlife watching.

At a suitable bay or cove, chosen according to the day’s conditions, the skipper pauses the cruise for a short swim and snorkel stop. You can slide into the clear water, float near the boat, and look for fish and other small marine life, or simply stay on deck and take photos of the Los Gigantes cliffs.

    Features

    • Small-group eco sailing with a maximum of 11 guests, so the deck never feels crowded.

    • Whale and dolphin watching in the Teno-Rasca marine protected area, with live commentary from the crew.

    • Swim and snorkel stop in a calm spot along the coast, with equipment available as per the option selected.

    • Light snacks and drinks included to keep you comfortable throughout the cruise.

    • A friendly crew ready to help with questions, photos, and any support you need during your time at sea.

  • What to bring

    • Pack a swimsuit, towel, and reef-safe sunscreen if you plan to swim or snorkel.

    • A light jacket or windbreaker is useful, as it can feel cooler at sea.

    • If you use motion sickness medication, take it before boarding as advised by your doctor or pharmacist.

    Accessibility

    • This experience is not wheelchair accessible.

    • You need to be able to step on and off the sailboat and move around the deck with basic stability.

    What’s not allowed

    • Pets are not permitted, except for registered service animals.

    • Large suitcases and oversized luggage are not allowed on board.

    • Glass bottles and outside alcohol are not permitted for safety reasons.

    Additional information

    • The cruise operates with a maximum of 11 passengers per sailboat to keep the experience relaxed and personal.

    • Arrive at the Los Gigantes harbor at least 15 minutes before departure for check-in and briefing.

    • Swim and snorkel time is included, but participation is optional and at your own risk. Always follow crew instructions.

    • Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times while on board and in the water.

    • Life vests are available for all guests, and the crew will guide you on how and when to use them.

    • Whale and dolphin sightings are very common in this area but can never be fully guaranteed, as they are wild animals in open water.

    • Tours may be rescheduled or canceled if sea conditions or technical issues make sailing unsafe.

    • The route runs through the protected Teno-Rasca strip, so the crew follows local guidelines for respectful, low-impact wildlife watching at all times.

    • The friendly crew is on hand throughout the cruise to assist you, answer questions, and help with swimming and snorkeling setups.

    • Your voucher will be emailed to you shortly.
    • Display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the starting point.
    • Please check your final voucher for the starting point details & specific instructions.
